Im getting Crouches value based on the contract you are willing to offer essentially. If he was in the top 10 range I dont think you are sneezing too hard over the 6 year 5 mill he wants. You would just give him that and move on. If you think he is more in the 4 year 2.8 mill range for example (which is where I imagine you are at), I think it goes into this 10-15 range.looking at

Maybe im overrating the draft picks this year however.

I can understand the logic on pay and looking at it against picks, but i can also see the counter arguementt to this, like Keath leaving Adealide for big $$ should we get a first rounder for him, I would think not, but based on pay Yes

The only logic Im using is, he is a RFA we know full well we get a first rounder for him dependant on where we finish, because that RFA we know how it works it can be assessed

With the fact everyone in the club is being looked at, they simply wont make mistakes ATM

I think its weighted both ways. I do think however in a situation like this it will weigh more on the Adelaide side merely because its their reluctance that is the hold up more then anything. I think its safe to say if Adelaide offer the same contract Gold Coast are, he stays. It isnt and wont happen it seems so that somewhat lowers his worth

Its not doom and gloom its reality

The coach is gone (FOR A REASON)

An external review has happened (FOR A REASON)

We finished 11th last year and your saying you think we will finish 8TH this year

Im actually being optomistic on finishing 14th, that would give us pick 5 for Brad

Perhaps I will rephrase it, be more specific. I see you in the 10-11 range next year
No, because we wouldn't have access to those kids anyway. The point is mute.

Not a moot point at all. This year Green will be selected in the top 6, so it pushes our pick back. While you won't have access to most of those academy, NGA, F/S next year, it reduces the quality of who you could select with a later compensation pick for Crouch versus what you could get for him this year which could be a better strategy

If Gibbs is worth two firsts, then Crouch is worth more than him.

Need to let it go Cleric, everyone knows, including your own supporters, that you paid overs for Gibbs. While Crouch is younger, he doesn't have the finishing skills of Gibbs, so he won't attract that sort of value or the very least the combination of the picks exchanged

That's true but I expect the crows offer will be at least in the $650k-$700k range over 3+ years so it would still be a significant contract on offer at the crows. It's not like the McGovern trade where he was on $350kish and offered double that by Carlton.

There wont be any offers from Adelaide this year, next year he will be offered a reasonable contract from Adelaide and it wont matter what GC are prepared to offer, that contract will make him probably top 3 $$$ at Adelaide which will equate to a Band 1 Compo, If GC offer more and i think it would be, he will go and we will get the Band one RFA

If he wants to explore options this year thats his problem if GC want him, the trade will need to be better than that band 1 compo, or that poor bugger who they are reviewing, who is doing the negotiations at the monent will not last at the club

BCrouch was quoted 2 weeks ago as saying he and his management were in discussions with the crows about a long term contract extension so there definitely is contract talk that has either happened or is ongoing.

“I’m in negotiations but I haven’t received an offer yet, but I’m hoping to get something in the next couple of weeks,” Crouch said.
“I’m hoping that soon we can get something done.
“The (Don Pyke) decision doesn’t change where I want to be and at the moment I’m hoping to play at the Adelaide Footy Club for as long as I can.”

Your can think what you like and not justify why you think we will finish there, but you aren't into the club that much, you are a carlton supporter you don't go to the games and see it first hand

club abviuously dont think your way on mid table which is why we have no coach and they have appointed an external review

The reason I dont think we will finsih mid is our nucleus of players that got us to that 2017 GF are finished

Walker
Sloane
Betts
JJ
Jacobs
Lynch
Otten
Douglas

Talia is getting older and slower
Greenwood gone
Keath gone

Gibbs finished

Our youth has been rated worst in the comp by AFL.com

That is my reasoning, let me know why you think we will maintain a mid table finish

This lower finish will help in determining what Crouch is worth to us

THen this thread should be closed if that is true that he wants to play at the Adelaide football club

I watch every single game each weekend, so I have a reasonable understanding of your list. You will replace the coach just like other sides this year and move on to a different strategy. Yes you have too many older players on the list, but the core is not one of a bottom 4 side, just like it wasn't a top 4 side

Your youth wasn't rated the worst (surely you are not basing this again on CD and of the media), it is just thinner and less exposed to AFL games compared to other clubs, of which the number of young kids can be increased quickly

You forget to explain the reasoning why a full external review has been ordered by the board

If Luko would want to go home I would expect Port is more attractive destination at the moment. I would say at the moment Suns look in good shape off field. On field results is another story.

I would say who ever has the biggest offer is where Luko will go, if infact he is keen to go home, lets be honest now

Not sure Luko would go to Port, he grew up supporting the crows/hating port although he softened his stance when the draft was happening so possibly.

Living in a two-team state means the options were limited for key forward Jack Lukosius, but at one point in his life he was strong in his belief that he “hated Port”.
“I’m a Crows man. To be honest I always hated Port as a kid. I trained there over the pre-season and love it, so I love them now and don’t mind them at all. But if you’re a Crows fan, you’re certainly not a Port fan back in Adelaide,” Lukosius told foxfooty.com.au.

Sure we both know it would be base around governance and not meeting expectations

Both of which can be turned around quickly

Very unlikely an external review is ordered by the board where an internal review could be organised if things were slighty off track, unless you believe in over kill

It obvioulsy all relates to onfield as off field the club is well above most clubs

But with your logic we are average onfield but I think their logic is different

Off field financials with your club has always been strong, your off field/back of house operations is what many are questioning, that too will be sorted despite the names that remain or removed

ultimately Fagan is responsible for that

Course he is, but he might remain for another year, while others loss their jobs or responsibilities

If Fagan is the one that is out, he will simply be replaced

I know exactly what a poor back of house feels like prior to the end of 2014 and we were in a much worse situation than your club

Two people on planet Earth think Bryce Gibbs is worth two firsts. One unfortunately was your list manager. He was worth pick 15-20 at the time. You got absolutely creamed

You cannot expect to punish Gold Coast for your own silly mistakes. It wont work
Weller was worth pick 2, McGovern pick 12 and a player. Brads worth more than they are.

If it is discovered that the back house have been appauling there really is one man in charge being Fagan that has ultimate responsibility of that club

If the review is conducted and finds its a few rogue individuals that have stuffed things up, they will probably go, but they will also ask why the man in charge of the whole club allowed those rogue individuals to get away with it

You could see Fagan get the boot, pointless going after the indians, when you have the chief allowing them to do what they want without any controls, as it will only occur again

And rtemember, Fagan was lound and clear that he wanted the crows to be industry leaders in best practice - epic fail

What AFL.com know about football you could fit on the back of a postage stamp.

Your youth coming through is far from the worst I'd rate all the below as good chances of having strong AFL careers:

Dodoee
Milera
Fogarty
McHenry
O'Brien
Jones
Himmelberg

Lol. While Crouch is getting brownlow votes and most likely winning our B&F, Gibbs was playing in the seconds. Crouch is better than Gibbs.
