So Port offer rubbish... say pick 51 (Not saying thats what he is worth, please bear with me)
You'd rather club say stuff it and let him walk?
Obviously WCE would fight for more etc etc but Port could just not budge and let him walk. GWS wouldnt pick him up.
Is you thinking based on principle? Based on future trades? Culture (not being walked over)?
Whats the point of accepting a worthless deal? We have several young interstate players. Do we really want to say "nominate any club in the land and we will get you there taking nothing in return"?
Or do we want to say "we will work to get you were you want to go but we must look after the club too"?
WC has a reputation as being a fair dealer. When players have wanted to come back to WA (Chick, Stenglein) we have always paid a fair price even if we could of screwed that club over. When players have wanted to go home east (Judd, Gehrig) we have also been reasonable.
If only all clubs had the same class.
