So Port offer rubbish... say pick 51 (Not saying thats what he is worth, please bear with me)

You'd rather club say stuff it and let him walk?

Obviously WCE would fight for more etc etc but Port could just not budge and let him walk. GWS wouldnt pick him up.

Is you thinking based on principle? Based on future trades? Culture (not being walked over)?

Whats the point of accepting a worthless deal? We have several young interstate players. Do we really want to say "nominate any club in the land and we will get you there taking nothing in return"?

Or do we want to say "we will work to get you were you want to go but we must look after the club too"?

WC has a reputation as being a fair dealer. When players have wanted to come back to WA (Chick, Stenglein) we have always paid a fair price even if we could of screwed that club over. When players have wanted to go home east (Judd, Gehrig) we have also been reasonable.

If only all clubs had the same class.

Love how all of the sudden west coast fans rate ebert yet i remember their supporters saying how he cant kick ect.. Couldnt even break it into the finals side. Hopefuly port sticks to there guns and only offers pick 33 and a player.. If not we'll take him in psd for nothing coz i doubt gws or gold coast will bother if he packs up and leaves in a year.

Purely frustration. Every team has players that get bagged out by fans. Doesn't mean we want to lose them.

Stenglein was a tagger and Chick was a defender. You don't need to be an elite kick to play those positions. Ebert has played as an offensive outside midfielder/HFF. You can't play those positions well if you can't kick.

Ebert IS an inside mid who has been forced to play limited time in the mdifield due to competing for the same spot as Priddis. He has been better than decent as a marking half forward but again plays in a side that has 3 other larger, marking forwards, so he is about 3rd option when the ball comes forward.

He pantsed Priddis head to head in our pre-season intra-club, wasn't even close, he will be a starting inside mid for Port ... and he improved substantially this year in all aspects ...

The fact that 40% of BF Eagles fans are clueless and feed the notion that he is shit is neither here nor there, I mean this thread shows that at least the same percentage of Port fans are equally clueless ...

If the Eagles asked for 28 AND 33 for Ebert, then the only club damaging it's reputation in trade week would be the Eagles for being absolute ****wits. He's worth 28 at the absolute most.

Bollocks, are you in that percentage of clueless people?

Given his time in the system, his skillset and his improvement, his leadership skills and the fact he is a midfielder, he is worth a Top 20 pick in this draft easily ... 28 & 33 in this draft are a crap shoot ....

Sweet, so if an outside midfielder who can't kick wants to come to WCE we'll demand a ridiculous price for him and send him to the PSD. Guess you guys better hope you finish near the bottom of the ladder that year.

Outside mids would be welcome... you guys have very few actual football players so one wonders when the above might occur ... reality is you guys have a checkered trading history based on an inflated sense of your worth as a club and a history of pretty average off field management, which may currently have reached its nadir... feel free to screw us over, but we have long memories and you might need our vote at different stages to stay alive ...

Port in 2007 beat every other side in the top 6, were the only side to beat Geelong at Skilled Stadium for 4 years and won a preliminary final by 15 goals. Well ahead of 2011 West Coast.

Ok, sure, does that make you feel better?

Port of 2011 i.e. currently, need Ebert, he will be one of your better players and, based on what we saw much of this season, one of about 5 with any heart whatsoever... he also smarter than your current coach, but thats likely gratuitous ...

FWIW, he isn't likely worth Pick 6 given the typical overrating of picks .. but he is worth Top 20 in this draft comfortably. It appears Port are feeling smug about their ability to get him for less than fair value, which is fine, as I said what goes around comes around ... lets hope you guys are paying your way soon ...

Ebert + 45

For 28 + 33.

Basically 28 isn't enough so we exchange our 2nd round picks, Eagles get a 12 spot upgrade on their 2nd round pick, Port drop 12 picks.

The upgrade to the Eagles 2nd rounder makes the trade bearable and a hell of alot closer to being a fair deal than just 28 or just 33.

Depending on how deep Port go in the draft the Eagles may even throw in our 3rd round pick 63 as most likely we won't be using it.

Just go away ...

You are being both clueless and arrogant. Actually they may make you the quintessential Port fan ...

We wouldn't even use pick 51, so yer, **** it. They can have him for nothing and remember that we won't forget this when the shoe is on the other foot.

The Port supporters putting Ebert down will be the first ones to come on bf and claim Ebert as the second coming of Jesus when he plays a good game and boast how they only had to give up pick 33 to get him

If we only offered pick 51 then the Eagles would be fully justified letting him walk. It worked for us with Stevens, and was probably a large part of the reason we got good deals for Carr and Burgoyne. An early second rounder for Ebert is reasonable though, and not taking that (especially if it's 28) just makes them look stupid.

****ed if I know.

Don't know what happened with the quote function but the quote you used wasn't mine.

33 is a fair price. Not our fault you and the tl;dr poster above who seems to think Ebert's good performance in an intraclub counts as evidence that he's worth a top 20 pick overrate your players.

For 28 + 33.

Port are still giving up pick 28 and 33 in that deal. Ebert isn't worth that, and neither is Ebert plus steakknives.

SNF just reported PA have offerred 28 for Ebert.

If that is the first offer I can see the eagles going for more.

Yeah pick 33 in a weak draft for a best 22 player.

Really fair.

You win this one Port but we have long memories.

Pick 33 for a player who will play 150+ games for your club, giving us a 25% chance of picking up someone who will hopefully be as good, and even less of a chance of being better. Yep, that really seems fair.

SNF is about as reliable as a homeless man wearing a 'The End is Near' sandwich board.

Yeah pick 33 in a weak draft for a player on the fringe of the best 22 player at most and a few spots outside of the best 22 at least. That is quite fair.

EFA, and agreed.

Eagles have repeatedly rejected going for any port players.

Only way is Port send a player to another club with that pick going to the eagles.
