If we had 23, I assume we'd probably be happy to give you that, but as we don't have a pick until 28, West Coast will probably accept it.

It's not enough under to be worth sending him into the PSD. It's slightly undervalue.
I think this guy is probably right.

Failing a complicated three-way trade, what would West Coast fans actually have Port do?

They're not going to give up pick 6 and we don't want any of their players because their list is so shit. Unless they engineer some other trade that gets a pick in the early 20s or late teens, pick 29 is about as close to the mark as it's going to get. It's unlikely to satisfy West Coast fans but equally, is there a plausible alternative?

Maybe Ebert + 45 for 29 and 33, I guess.

Yup. If it was Luke Shuey or somebody wanting to come to Port and the most we would offer is 28 then the Eagles would be doing themselves a long term disservice not to send him to the PSD, but Ebert is no Shuey. Even if we're being super generous about Ebert's true worth, pick 28 is only a little bit unders and we don't have anything better to offer. It's not something worth 'taking a stand over'. Especially when the Eagles would've known from the moment they drafted Brad that this was always a strong possibility.

Is he really even a Port boy? His father Craig Ebert played for the Bloods after falling out/being dumped by Port. Did Brad play for Westies too?

2nd round pick and throw in a free Motlop.

How does not using pick 28 constitute a long-term disservice?

It's pick 28 in a compromised draft. Ebert is a write-off anyway. I hope we send him to the PSD and GWS pick him up just to spite him.

Well, AFL clubs participate in this thing called a 'draft' at the end of the year, in which they attempt to pick players who will positively contribute to their football club. They do this through using 'draft picks', which are allocated in order, allowing AFL clubs who have early picks a greater chance of picking a good player. Pick 28 is quite a high draft pick, and therefore not using it would possibly be a long term disservice.

Cool. I'm sure when Brandon Matera wants to come to West Coast you'll direct the same vitriol towards him.

Unlike your scrubber club, we have the depth to compensate GC if that ever eventuated.

Pick 28 in this draft is practically a throw-away pick. As stated, I'd prefer to see him head to GWS. In fact, I have no doubt that the club is negotiating offering him to GWS as we speak. He is leaving the club on bad terms and there is no incentive for us to help Port who are intent on bending us over and getting him for nothing (pick 28 or less) or Ebert himself who spits the dummy like a spoilt shit after being rightfully dropped at the end of the season. Sheeds can use him as a bargaining chip in 2013 and will force you to pay overs tfor. Can't wait frankly :thumbsu:

Ebert must accept the deal to GWS or you cant trade him there.
And secondly if Ebert and Port heavily front load his contract, which we are in a postion to do, GWS or GC wouldnt touch him because of the money he would need straight up.

And Port are offering the fairest trade that we can for Brad Ebert :thumbsu:

Summary: My club drafted a player who was always going to leave, then got annoyed when he wanted to leave.

And how exactly is he going to do that? If Ebert ends up in the PSD, then he'll only be signing a one-year contract if he goes somewhere other than Port and we'll be able to get him under the same circumstances next year, assuming the other club doesn't have a cry because the pick we're giving them is two or three picks less than what he's worth.

We're going to get Ebert for pick 28. Deal with it, since you've shown such disregard for a player who your club should never have drafted if they were afraid he would leave, then I'll enjoy your tears when it happens.

If Toovey is worth an end of first round, early 2nd round pick which seems to be the mail then Ebert's worth is 28, given he is out of Contract.

Just can't see it being any different and realistically, Ebert leaving, may ensure Stevens stays, which is a win.

P.S. In the thrill of arguing his worth, have we forgotten Eberts ordinary disposal skills???

Improved a lot this year (+10% DE), and he is the type of kid to continue to work and improve any weakness.

I would have to agee that pick 28 would be fair as if GWS had taken him we would only get and end of first round pick as compo

Problem is Port has not offerrred pick 28 yet - they offerred players

Im sure 28 will be offered eventually....
Thats whats annoying about trade WEEK..!
They should just get it done in 3 days, the rest is just bs..!

Maybe will throw in motlop as well, no one wants him...??
For us to take Motlop you'd need to include pick 6! :D

Love that pic. Speaking of picks, Port would be laughing to get him for pick 28 and I'm pretty pumped to have him in our side remember guys hes only 21. I like West Coast and it does suck that they won't be fairly compensated because Port don't have anything realistically better than pick 28. As for Motlop it's weird as I'm sure most Port supporters want him to stay at the club but his value is absolutely nothing and if his value is nothing I'm sure Pettigrew will need pick 6 with him for teams to even think about it.

I have trouble finding a way Port can satisfy the eagles for Ebert, and to me the eagles and lions list managers seem to be on similiar pages with M clarks real worth...they should get together and work out a deal to present to the crows that will see a 3 way deal involving Ebert, Tippett, and clark with picks included to balance it out.

Im sure Ebert & clark can be talked into changing team preferences if it means getting a deal done to go home

tippett is worth a lot more than ebert. the crows would never do the 3 way trade thats suggested

[posted in the clark thread]

Crows
Lose: Pick 10, Tippett
Gain: Ebert or Lycett, Pick 8, Pick 23, Lions Compo Pick

Lions
Lose: Mitch Clark, Pick 8, compo Pick
gain: Pick 10 & Tippett

Eagles
Gain: Mitch Clark
Lose: Ebert or Lycett & Pick 23

heaps of room to tweak the deal with the draft picks. I just cant see the eagles & lions getting suitable deals for clark & ebert from freo and Port...they should be teaming up to help each other
