Brad Haddin - why do we persist?

I don't dislike Rad Haddin, I just wish he'd play like a senior player.

His keeping, IMO, gets unfairly, harshly judged; it can't be easy keeping to *******s like Johnson & Siddle who struggle to bowl two balls in the same spot.

But he needs to bat responsibly and sensibly, he always seems to get out doing dumb shit, or when we need him to knuckle down.

Yep, my problem as well, he seems to have little to no brain.

Every keeper when they first come in gets bagged - Marsh (iron gloves), Healy (lost a Test in Pakistan thru a missed stumping), Gilly even started out as an average keeper (in comparison to what Healy was).

I'll admit to not being a fan of Haddin's keeping, but it's the whole package you have to consider these days. He is a fair bat and adds a bit in a side lacking the solidity of recent years.

He's played 30+ tests and turns 34 next month - he is no novice.

Needs to make some runs before the end of this Test series otherwise the drums will start beating.

the drums never seemed to stop beating since he was selected because 'he did his time' not that he was the best keeper in the land and deserved a run.

TBH i think thats why they select d.hussey for ODI's as a bone for never selecting him for tests. Any fan of victoria would tell you while hussey was a brilliant FC player, he was only ever a good 50/50 player.

Stupid policy for a stupid selection panel.

his batting has been ok, even lately his form was reasonable but if he starts fluffing it with the bat his time will come up sooner rather than later. started out as one of our better batsmen vs. england in the ashes.

last 10 tests (inc. this one) averages a tick under 33, 1-100 3-50's

was haddin the best keeper around when gilly retired?

No.

Comments about that were that 'he'd paid his dues' WTF is that? He was kept out of the side because he was a shite keeper.

I think that sort of thinking came in to selecting dhussey for the ODI side. Giving Stuart a run with the ball etc.

The selection policy was insane.
