I'm pretty sure we tried to employ him straight after he retired but he decided to concentrate on media work. He has coached the AFL Academy, but my main concern with him would be can he move past his love for the Bulldogs ?

Not sure about this move not a big fan of his and he seems to act more like a dogs fan than a serious football person.
Good to get someone to coach the forwards though with Caracella gone.

Former Western Bulldogs champion Brad Johnson will work with Geelong's forwards in a specialist coaching role at the Cats until the middle of January.

The short-term appointment will see Johnson assist in goalkicking and forward play with the club's young forward line.

He attended training at Geelong on Monday as the club's senior players returned.

The Cats added small forwards Brandan Parfitt and Jamaine Jones during the NAB AFL Draft and rookie draft, joining exciting developing forwards Lincoln McCarthy, Nakia Cockatoo and Daniel Menzel alongside key forward Tom Hawkins.

The club has lacked a crumbing forward in recent seasons who can regularly kick goals.

Johnson, 40, became an assistant coach at the NAB AFL Academy in 2011 before becoming its head coach at the end of 2013.

He combined the role with his burgeoning media career until 2015, when Brenton Sanderson took over the position full-time.

Johnson, who lives in Geelong, is still part of the Fox Footy team, hence the short-term nature of his role at Geelong.

Happy with the appointment but we also need as much focus, if not more, on how the ball is brought into the forward line if we are to improve in 2017.

This is why if we're to do anything in 2017 we must be willing to change our forward set up more and understand at times our strength is our weakness up there (especially against certain defenses), we have to bench Hawkins for longer periods at times and play with a small/medium forward line that splits the oppositions defence and forces our mids to pick a target rather than going the hail Mary to Hawkins all the time.
