I just can’t get Yeo out of my head.....missed him in the draft and then missed him again when he wanted to play for us in 2013. Instead we go chasing Colin Sylvia

I think Lloyd was unlucky with players breaking other players legs earning Harveys wrath... Heart conditions, intractable leg complaints. His hit/miss ratio has some things in it way outside of his control.

Simpson as well. With GWS taking a dozen of the best 17 year olds out of the draft pool the year before, we effectively had a second round pick to use and not a first round. It was just as obvious in 2013 as it was in 2016 that we were had an issue with talent, so I understand the roll of the dice on him. The 2 startups soaked up a lot of the KPF talent at just the wrong time for us, it's obvious that we tried to trade one in - also good to note, that we didn't sell the cow for magic beans under his watch as happened in our recruitment prior to him again and again and again.

So I think he's better than just SHill and the last 2 drafts, I always thought Mora would have made the difference in our having won the GF instead of lost (classy A grade player instead of a depth player).

I also don't mind that he's looked for the best talent, rather than just being fixated with the best local talent. It's not like we've lost many players to the go home factor.

In any event, I think he'd honestly do this last draft (not squib it in Carltons favour as has been suggested) and wish him well at Carlton - as long as it's not at our expense and we keep beating them No one should be irreplaceable in an organisation, I'm confident he'll be replaced by competence - and with luck we'll get someone with exceptional talent taking over his role.

I agree we should have a Perth based recruiter. How can the recruiter say ‘come join Freo and live in Perth’ when he doesn’t live in Perth himself.

We have missed out on a lot of WA talent because he wouldn’t get on a plane to come and check them out.

He's a senior manager of recruiting but the intelligence gathered would be well known and owned by the entire recruiting team. For the avoidance of conflict he should be straight out the door once he's transferred all his notes and so forth. He's not going to be that valuable to Carlton in this draft, as they've been scouting and working on their list strategies all year.

Could create some valuable synergies if we're to offload a few mid-range players (who's this year's Crozier?) to get a spot in R2 or 3 of the draft.

Carlton have poached a lot from GWS. Looking at who they have taken it would be more like Ethan Hughes, Shane Kersten and Cam Sutcliffe. Maybe Sheridan at a stretch.
