Sick of him. Trade him for a good draft pick. He is the softest ruckman in the league and should be wearing a dress
Otttens probably did more harm than good tonight giving away 4 free kicks inside 50.

He certainly hasn't fulfilled his potential yet but I wouldn't be so quick to trade him based on one bad game. He generally plays well without starring, maybe he needs another coach to get the best out of him.

Would definitely trade him for a 1st and 3rd round draft pick.

Will never be the player we want him to be. Will always take the occasional good grab, get plenty of ineffective tap outs and coast along without imposing himself on matches.

He is suffering like any good player in a poor... make that... rabble of a side. If he doesn't become the player he could/can be then that's more an indictment on our coaches and our player development. I would be getting rid of our dumb coaches and dumb players instead.

He's a forward for fux sake.
It;s simple.
Put him up there and leave the boy alone!
Watch him refine his game.

Is he a forward though? When the game was in the balance in the opening term I can't remember him getting in front in any contest.

I think he needs the confidence in knowing that he wont
be rucking to concentrate on his forward game.
He doesn't have enuff mongrel to ruck.
He is a beautiful kick in frony of goal and one on one
usually outmarks an opponent provided the ball was delivered correctly.

why is everyone making excuses for him. He goes into the ruck and gets murdered by Clarke. He goes up forward and continually plays behind.

He has been at the club long enough now. Face it.....he just isnt the superstar we were hoping for

Ottens is not playing that bad. He is getting the tap outs, but we are getting no clearances. I noticed last night when the ball was bounced on the half forward flank, Ottens ran in and belted the ball 20 metres forward (a la Brisbane) and there was a cheer from the crowd. This is what he has to do more of. We don't have the talent in the midfield to get any clearances, just belt the damn thing forward.

Next week, with Hawthorn having Sam Mitchell and Crawford, we need Ottens to do the same thing and belt the ball forward at every opportunity and work our game plan around that. Nothing else has worked, surely this is worth a shot?

Never said he was.
I assessed otto last year and came to the same conclusion,
how-ever in a sky of darkness he offers some lite.
Can't turn a list over in one season.

Did anyone notice last nite when he belted it forward how the crowd cheered? First time for everything otto.

But seriously to another not how good was chaffey and tivendale last year. Continuously belting the ball 60m inside 50 and they are chippin it an dmakin mistakes. We are shizenhousen or is it that other clubs have gotten better?

Anyone talking about playing the kids should look no further than what Frawley has done to Ottens. Under a skillful coach, he would be the No.1 ruckman in the league today.

But what did Danny do? He gave a job to his mate Stewie Lowe as ruck coach and look how soft Ottens is in the ruck. If he played under a winning coach, and an experienced ruck coach, he'd be playing to his potential.

And who the hell is our ruck coach these days anyway? Is the ruck position so unimportant in Frawley's game plan that we dont need to worry about coaching the ruckman?

You're a loser and a joke Frawley. And your decision to give a mate a job has cost us.

Keep this clown well away from our kids.

Please Richmond get someone who was a successful ruckman to direct Ottens. Simon Madden, the General, Benny Gale - anyone but Stewie Lowe. And what's wrong with Staff doing the ruck?

and how long as otto been at the club and which year did stewie become ruck coach?
was it the same year that otto was out of action for half the year?
keep clutching at straws!

So what's your reason for Ottens form? Please share your superior football wisdom. For once.

Lets see how clever you are. Commenting and criticising other people's posts doesnt make you clever. Come up with some answers of your own.

I'll even write the first sentence for you,

"Brad Ottens is not playing to his potential because...."

please ppl , get off the players backs, they have been coached to play that way.......whenever someone tries something attacking they get dragged, they play well they get dragged....the problem is in that loser mentality that frawley has always had coming from stkilda, who has he got around him.....that great succes story from the drug addicts (carlton) give the players a break and vent your anger at the coaching staff

I can only assume that those wanting Ottens traded are new to the club or have short memories.

History lesson ... Mark Lee retires. Richmond spend the best part of 15 years trying to find a ruckman who can even tie his own shoelaces.

Brendan Gale, Richard Lounder, Greg Dear, Steve O'Dwyer, Robert Schaeffer, Matty Francis, Steve McKee, Richard Lounder, Simon Eastaugh, Brett Chalmers, Richard Nixon, Ty Esler, Pat Steinfort, Jay Burton.

Presumably we get rid of Ottens and try to make do with Stafford (30) and Marsh (28)?

Weaver, my suggestion would be to to trade ottens for a ruckman who can hold their own but is not being paid "superstar wages" and is not tagged as being an "elite player". Examples would be David Hille from Essendon, Charman from Brisbane etc etc.

By trading Ottens, we could get a ruckman that can hold their own (but is not tagged as a "superstar", we should also be able to get a good draft pick as part of the trade.

My only concern is that perhaps we should give him one more go under a descent coach with a descent game plan before shipping him off.

PS - for the record, I rate Benny Gale (in the later part of his career) as a far superior ruckman to Ottens
