Who do you think could be some of those bigger names??
Bassett, Edwards,Goodwin,McLeod,Torney,Stenglein,Burton. IMO is where the money is.
Add to that the Likes of Bode and Ladhams and we have a very new Crows team.
Everyone on our list that has less than 4 - 5 years left will be closeley looked at.
BTW the only one on that list that I would be unhappy about is Edwards, everyone else,,,,,,, Thanks for your time and in 2005 your greatest contribution is your trade value, Thanks.

Adelaide's first round pick is worth more to them than to Richmond. But I am sure Richmond could find someone to give them a first rounder if it is what they wanted.

Bigger names on their way:

Brett Burton, the star wingman and key forward type

Michael Doughty, the ultra-consistent and versatile wingman

James Gallagher, the nuggety and creative midfielder

Hayden Skipworth, the tenacious and long-kicking little man
These are big names:confused:
Maybe Burton, but the rest won't inspire a rush of interest.

Would consider :
Bassett
Perrie
Stenglein
Burton
Biglands

The rest are part of our leadership group, which is important to keep intact.

See my previous post.
Btw NO trades until much later this year AND the 2 most important people in the process (coaches) are not even in their positions yet.
That offer will dissapear if Ayres gets the Richmond gig.
Our trades this year will be about getting more early picks NOT giving them away, and dont be surprised if the 6 - 8 players that will move out at the end of the year are the bigger names, in trade for stable types and great picks.
Actually if Ayres gets a coaching job with another club it may help us being more active with trading as he may be keen to get a few AFC players at his new club. eg. Like Pagan going after Teague & Morell.

He won't be interested in Bode I'll give you a hot tip.

Maybe we can trade Shirley and Skippy :)

Yeah, reckon you're right Stiffy & the Bodey fans can breathe a little easier now.

Speaking of Bode, would anyone be surprised if Bode re-discovers his 2002 for in the last 9 games??????

I guess it will all depend on how Craig rates him but if he is given the same opportunity as he was against Bulldogs he would be in our best players for the rest of the year.

Nah, Ayres is a canny one.

He knew it was going to be his last season, so he deliberately underplayed and frustrated Bode so he could go to somehwere like Richmond and pick him up on the cheap from Adelaide.

Bode is secretly one of Ayres' favourite layers.

agree,
I wouldn't be surprised if he takes a more of a tagging role now, as I think If he's to stay he needs to be seen as very accountable.
and stingers value needs increasing ( more that a tagger ).

Hopefully Craig can teach him how to kick in field play too...

maybe you should just play for a priority pick now?

may aswell build for the future

give pick 4(and probably a player) for example for ottens and keep ya priority pick

Thought you might be interested in these comments:

What Kevin Bartlett says about Ottens

"BRAD Ottens has been a big disappointment to the Tigers. A couple of years ago, I thought he was an extraordinary talent; such a beautiful kick.

"I think he's got to get a bit more urgency into his game; I think we've got to see him break into a sweat.

"I think he's got to take more marks, I think he's got to win more of the ball; I don't think it's enough just to do the ruckwork as a designated ruckman, and I really do think he's got to sit down and be tougher on himself, and go out with the thought that he should be the best player on the ground every time he steps on to the ground.

"I think Mike Sheahan might have put him in his top five or 10 players at the start of the year, which was an extraordinary thing by Mike to do.

"He may have been reasonable this season, but the Tigers need more than reasonable players, and when you've got the talent of Brad Ottens, he has to do better.

"He's got to get a bit more urgency into his game, a bit more excitement, and I think he's got to lift his own standards . . .

"He's got the talent, he's got the size, it just depends on whether he has got the will to make himself the best player in the game and, so far, he hasn't."

Some clubs have too much selfrespect to do the Melbourne biannual season tank for draft picks.

I HOPE SO!!! McLeod had a bad start to the season but is coming good now and based on 2002, Burton will kick us 50+ goals a season if healthy and if he was actually played in attack. I don't want Fiora, thank you.

Won't happen.

After being injured most of last season and now with a serious and unquantifiable injury this season, he would be too much of a risk.

For better or for worse, Goodwin will be staying at Adelaide.

I don't no about the worse part.
IMO one of the major reasons for our 2004 season performance has been the general poor performance of our midfield.

Goody has, would have, and will have a major influence in our midfield.

I don't disagree.

By worse I mean in terms of if his injury/ies hampers the rest of his career.

Hopefully if he can have the whole of this season and the PS to recover, he'll be right for next year.

Sports medicine has come a long way, with failures due a lot to the athletes impatience to give it "time" to recover.
Goodwin will get that time.

KG and Cornesy were discussing what the Crows need and came up with 3 types of players. A marking ruckman, a marking forward and a big strong defender.

Interestingly, KG classed only 5 players as untouchable (Roo, Hart, McLeod, Johncock and Hentschel) while Cornsey had 4 (minus Hentschel)

Both Agreed that we should go after Ottens and both would consider trading our 1st pick. Admittedly Cornesy is a bit sceptical about trading our 1st pick especially considering it is likely to be in the top 5 or 6.

I reckon we might get a pick as high as the top 3 especially considering we only have 28 players to choose from for the game against Melbourne.

Agree with the requirements, but they forgot we need a class midfielder.
Fact is I doubt we can get all our requirements in one draft.

If we however use our #1 draft for Ottens, I'll be very very:mad:

I still reckon that we should go after Ottens AND their best pick!
Mcleod + Hudson + second round + Salary % for macca

I agree we will not be able to address all those deficiencies in 1 drafting/trading period.

I also stronly agree that our 1st pick MUST be off limits.

Forgot to mention that Cornesy said that if we got Ottens he would tell Biglands that he would trial him as a FB for the entire year and his job would be to play on big strong forwards. I don't think we have anything to lose if we do get Ottens. I don't think finals will be on the agenda next year if we are fair dinkum about where this club is heading.
