Im not a Scott fan but this is an extremely weak Essendon squad. Who outside of Merrett and Durham are walk up starts for Hawthorn?

Caldwell, Redman and Caddy are all there abouts but not locks you’d say. Ridley and Martin are good but not playing and would have to have question marks about every getting back to their best.

Plus the Hawthorn players have already played a game this year.

I did a job for JL’s parents at their house a few years ago and they are lovely people.

Essendon’s list isn’t great. But like North under Clarkson, the level of underperformance is so severe that it can’t just be explained by the cattle. At some point, when a team keeps serving up these kind of dysfunctional performances, that’s more a coaching and gameplan issue more than a list issue I reckon.

If they don't finish the season offering some sort of tangible hope for the future, it would be foolish of the Bombers to carry on with Scott.

Interesting Rutten was sacked after two years and I am ****ed if I can see how Scott has done better.

His press conference tonight amounted to "I coached well but the players didn't play well." Good coaching is getting the players to play well - against reasonable expectations.
