like every other team...
the footy seasons don't work like that
Well no, not every other team has an injury run this bad. It’s been off the scale this year.

Does that mean Essendon would be any good with a healthy list? Nope. We’ve got far too many holes on our list.

But even the most ardent anti-Scott person surely can admit that when a coach is confronted with this many injuries, on an already below par list, they’re on a hiding to nothing.

So I’m not going to blame Scott for this year. There are aspects of his coaching and selection that I don’t exactly love, but he’s had to patch a side together that would be nowhere near what he’d envisaged at the start of the year and with this much inexperience and lack of continuity, good luck cobbling together much of a game plan.

The year was a write-off two months ago. It just is what it is.

Who should we classify as the best of their coaches post Sheedy era? It's probably Bomber Thompson seeing that he was the coach who came closest to achieving that elusive finals game win.😄

Brad Scott is going nowhere. You can't possibly assess Essendon accurately this year.

This is the Essendon side who didn't play against Carlton on Thursday:

B: Ridley McKay Laverde
HB: Cox Reid Hayes
C: Jones Durham Hobbs
HF: Martin May Setterfield
FF: Smartt Caddy Draper
R: Bryan Parish Caldwell

Int: Tsatas, Davey, Edwards, Gerreyn, Day-Wicks

That team could just about beat the team that played on Thursday and could well have beaten Carlton. We literally have two totally different teams- Essendon A and Essendon B

For once we just need to back a coach in imo. There could be some further pain ahead but i'm confident that Brad Scott can leave solid foundations for his successor to build on.

He's clearing the decks, that's for sure.
They had a rough run with injuries in 2025, best option would be for them to back BS

Poor performances in Rnd 1 are never good, but can be used to get a early reality check

Think BS will look at this game against the hawks and try to get some lessons from it, a tough start but these kind of games can happen with a team that’s re establishing its game style

I wouldn't be worried that they've lost. I'd be more concerned with how they lost.

Absolutely zero fight. Movement bereft of any ideas except long down the line. Zero defensive accountability without the ball.
