Re: Brad Scotts Attitude

In saying that, I anticipate a outsider like Brad Scott can straighten players out and make them play for him and the loyal membership who deserve better than the ring-a-ring a rosey footy (North are currently playing) I can't be bothered watching.

I'm the same as you - so loyal that I just can't be arsed watching them play.

Not quite understanding this whole 'Scott lets you know where you stand, takes no bullshit - yay!' attitude being shown by some posters on this board.

Only a matter of months ago, people were lamenting Laidley's 'from another era' communicative style, complaining that he wasn't properly dealing with Generation Yers who need (it was alleged) more TLC and less blunt feedback.

I am a Gen Y'er, and I am sorry, but Blut is the only way a message should be delivered, leave no Gray areas, tell someone how it is, but if you have a critisism also have ideas for the Answer. It is no good saying, "Listen hear son, you cant take a contested grab to save your life, and until you improve this aspect of your game you will never be an elite player!" More like, "Listen hear mate, to take your game to an elite level you need to start taking contested grabs, Crocks and Phillo will take you for 30 mins after training and you need to see Weighty each day for and extra gym session" "We will speak again about this in six to eight weeks!"

I've just realised that I don't speak (or even understand) the language of Gen Y.

Nor do I LtK (or am I just following your opinion blindly?)!

Nup, I definitely don't. You and I played in the day when if your performance required a spray, often literally with some coaches, you'd cop it on the chin.......and in the hair and eyes. You'd return with a steely resolve to better that performance at the next opportunity.

The coach would be in your face and you'd be all ears.

If you "sooked" about it, thinking you were unfairly singled out, your peers would tell you to "HTFU!"

It's a different world thesedays, and I'll be glad if Scott can cross that cultural divide, which I'm confident he can, based on all reports from those who know him well.

Sounds like there's some sort of story behind THAT comment.........

Please don't disappoint me and tell me it was just about football

Sorry to disappoint, JD....

Let me stay: Laidley

.....

On the more recent spat with Wells, he said: "If I had my time over again, I wouldn't have used those words. (He publicly accused Wells of an inability to carry injury).

"It's one area I've got to get better at. When I say some things, I don't make it black and white.

"We actually passed in the corridor (at the club) on Saturday and had a conversation and, to me, it was probably the best conversation we've had in six years.

Re: Brad Scotts Attitude

He was a player who had to fight for every inch he gained across the journey of his playing career, and he understands that players can improve. I love that he sees a potentially better player in most of our current crop of individuals. This is a guy who walked the talk!

He'll be aiming to get each player to their optimum and then, if they're still not up to it, even the player would probably thank him for the improvements gained, as well as the opportunities.

I like it :thumbsu:

The bloke communicates very well also, and we've been crying out for a decent communicator and face of the club. Has presence also!

I wish him well!

Yeh but Laids was hardly bloody Jezza was he - got the more out of less talent than Brad Scott in his footy career. Just could not motivate our players over the "journey" - as he would say
