Brad Sewell vs Joel Corey

Corey is a gun and not many rated him highly a few years ago, but he has always been quality in my eyes.

Sewell has him though, just. He is a maniac at the ball and has improved his foot skills. He is definitely Hawthorns best midfielder.

It's like someone asking you who would you rather ****, Jessica Alba or Megan Fox, you'd be happy to have the second pick and you wouldn't lose much.

Corey is a good player, and a very good player playing for Geelong, it's that simple.

Tomorrow Selwood's 42 won that game, then it'll be Bartel's last quarter.

I like Corey and think he's a good player, inside grunt work, tackles etc Sewell has him covered comfortably.

Thats ridiculous. Even if you rate Sewell more so than Corey (which although i disagree with i can except) to say hes comfortably ahead of Corey is ludicrous

Surely??? I understand Cats and Hawks fans picking their own player, but surely whoever is better it is only just. I can't split them, I do know however there is no way one of them is easily better than the other as some people seem to think

Completely agree. Anyone who says teither has the other easily covered is just wrong. Virtually nothing between them.

Both extremely consistent

Corey is more versatile and can play most positions.

Sewell is more explosive IMO.

I think I would take Sewell at a pinch

It is one of the better polls but Sewell is better than Corey.

Sewell isn't blessed with the skills JC is and he has a bigger impact on games and gets less disposals.

You have to remember, Corey has Ablett, Ling, Bartel and Selwood around him.

Corey is a great player, Sewell is better.

You're right, it's not the poll. Stop bitching it's your clubs fault that they took Boak before Selwood.

Im glad they took boak, if he were playing in the Geelong midfield, he'd be just as big, would kick more goals create more run and deliver the ball inside 50 more and geelong wouldnt loose any hardness cause Bartell, ling, corey, kelly would do all the hard work anyways. overated! top 40 player not top 10

Good poll, particularly in light of recent polls such as Archer v Brown and Kozi v McKernan. Very even, Corey just shading it in my opinion, both teams will reasonably think their guy is better while neutrals will probably be fairly mixed

He might have him pipped by the smallest of margins right now, but Sewell has a long way to go to surpass what Corey has done in his career so far. Corey has been racking up the clearances and gut running for epic last quarters since about 2004 - well before Ablett, Selwood and even Bartel were on the scene as elite midfielders.

In other words, Sewell certainly isn't a great player just yet.

My vote stays with Brad Sewell. Gotta stick with the ballarat player out of the two that are stated.
Many Geelong fans will tip Joel Corey and that's fair for them because they always back their players no matter what.

If you read the entire thread you'll find thst just as many nuetrals are voting for Corey as they are Sewell.

Agreed. Think they're very similar players. Both hard at it, big tanks, not high scorers (as mids go), occasionally sloppy disposal. Very happy to have Corey, but would probably be equally so with Sewell. Would prefer Fox in a tight one too....

Very true. So how come Corey has been good enough to win two club best & fairests and Bartel hasn't won any?

For what it's worth, I think Sewell is Hawthorn's best midfielder. But there is very little between.

What's the comparison of individual honours between the 2? (Not that that's the major difference, Corey's been around a bit longer obviously)

Corey's won 2 Best & Fairests and I think 2 AA selections. Sewell has won one Best & Fairest that I know of, not sure about other accolades.
