Relatively happy with Symes. Solid pick up. Hopefully he can play in the middle. Can he play inside? He's an absolute ball magnet, but his disposals are usually uncontested. Where will be play him? Wing?

Your dead right he is allowed to do what ever he like because he is on holiday and just won a GF but my point was that now he is not a Power player they are trying to make him look bad.
I wasnt having a crack at you, I was having a crack at the port supporters through your quote. I Probably could of worded that better.

Sydney
out: pick 28
in: mattner
Verdict: Very good mattner is worth slightly more than that

Adelaide
out: mattner
in:symes
Verdict: Good deal for you guys, mattner was better tackler etc. but symes in the long run will be a better player

Port
out: symes
in: pick28
Verdict: We got screwed, pick 28 likely wont be as good as either marty or symes. It's like you guys got screwed and then passed the STD onto us and were cured in the process

The AFC wish to announce to its Members and supporters that Brad Symes was put through a medical and cleared, Brad was also made to have a shower to rid himself of the Port germs

That's not Symes it's either portentous or Nikki. :)

Well I hope it's one of them and not Macca23 or noddy. :p :D

Regardless of whether some of us think the Moran and Symes trades are wins for the club, good luck to them. Let's hope they have a long and successful career.:thumbsu:
I can only speak from Symes point of view and IMO he is not top shelf, but what he is good at he is top shelf in.
If Craig can get him to improve in his "other areas" he could end up top shelf overall.
Overall IMO he is more than worth the pick you have paid for him as he is good value for money from a punt point of view.

I just saw a few highlights of Symes, is it just me or does he remind you of Brent Reilly?
His staminer, Footy brain, kicking style etc looks similar to Reily.
I think Neill will develop his defensive skills, and turn him into a quality midfielder.

Or in a sober way:
Potential upside: You lot have done very well. :thumbsu:
Where he is now: Meh, 28 is probably about right, perhaps a bit high but only tad.

I know someone who is good friends with Symesy and apparently he didn't like Choco at all (there was a bit of choice language here but I'll leave that out). Said he would talk up the opportunities he was going to get and how bright a future he has, then turned around and said "find another club" just out of the blue halfway through the season. Word is Choco can be quite two-faced. Symes wanted to be picked up by the Crows originally and is very happy to be with us. Hopefully we get the best out of him. :thumbsu:

I think pick 28 in a thin draft for a guy who will probably win the Magarey is about right. I have no problem with that. However, we should have received much more than pick 28 for Mattner, and especially on the first day of trading.

-Port accept pick 28 for a player who is on the fringe of their best 22 but looks promising. About right.

-The AFC accept pick 28 for a 98 game player who should be (provided he is used correctly) in our top 10 players. But then to accept this trade on the first day of trade week reeks of total incompetence. For a team that lacks both pace and hardness to throw away one of the few players we have with both of these attributes is bizarre.

BTW Paf. what pick was Symes orginally draft with?

at lest you guys can now claim to have a rising star nominee

Brad Moran has a nom too and really Griff should have one, he played a blinder which most weeks would have netted him a nomination, but he was just unlucky because someone else had a blinder that week as well. From memory Symes' nomination was one of those where if you played a half decent game that week you would have gotten it.

I think he is a better, more aggressive version of Mick Doughty. I mujst admit in hindsight, I'm happy we drafted him. IMO he is only 2nd tier but has more upside in our other second tiers of Doughty, Massie, Hinge (before traded) etc.
