i think youre heavily under-rating him.. i think hes got plenty of class and would excel alot more at the crows then at port

By this stage everyone is probably thinking I'm against trading for anyone, and therefore I'm a hypocrite. Not true.
Please Adelaide, go for him! Younger than Symes, way more upside, and he fills a need.
I want Symes at the right price (pick 28 or higher). I don't want Symes at the wrong price (whatever that might be).

What would you trade for him?
Good question, I'd be willing to trade a fair bit. 22 year old key forward who’s a great mark and is one of the best kicks for goal I’ve seen. Flawless technique and wouldn’t that be nice after years of inaccuracy.
I seriously hope we're one of the interested clubs because we're crying out for a key forward and here’s one full of promise who is available.
Ok i can understand why so many people are interested in us going after symes. But for mine i i do not see him being better then Vince and i see then play a similar role in the midfield. Also if we did get symes then we might as well get rid off pfeiffer and hinge, which would b outrageous. I mean symes will be a handy player but not somthing that we already do not have in our list. The position he plays we already have surplus players in (torney, massie, pfeiffer and hinge) and also i doubt he will get a gig ahead of douglas and vince in out midfield. So why get him if he won't help the cause?

What deal would you put forward?
Tough one. Pick 27 for Murphy would be laughed at and rightfully so; whereas pick 10 is too steep a price to pay. So somewhere in between, perhaps pick 10 for Murphy and pick 24, but we're probably getting too good a deal.
I'd be interested to know what offers Freo are listening to.

Personally wouldn't be trading Pick 10, unless a real quality player came along.
Murphy is decent, but certainly not worth downgrading the pick that gives us our best chance of picking up a very good young midfielder.
As I said, I think he's alright, but IMO would join the long line of "solid/average" forwards we've had.
Yeh that’s why it’s a hard one, I wouldn’t give pick 10 away unless it’s really worth it, and IMO Murphy could be. He has HUGE potential and if it clicks he will be way more than solid/average.

Symes does appear to be a natural ball magnet...

I don't mind Symes but I do have a couple of question marks on him
* He is unaccountable
* He lacks pace
* He at times has a pretty ordinary disposal
On a positive side, he knows how to find the footy. He knows where to run and how to get it so its a HUGE plus in his favour.
Really when you look at the above without pre-concieved idea, that reads pretty similarly to Chris Knight (though Knighta does have a bit of pace)
I would be reasonably happy if we could get him for pick 28. He is still young and is a hard worker which would suggest that he has the work ethic to improve those flaws in his game.
I think we could do a fair bit worse than Symes with pick 28.
Oh, and Drummond doesn't want him because it would create competition for his precious little boy Pfeiffer

Symes is a handy player and is probably worth a 2nd round pick at the going rate. He would be a handy addition to our squad but we are not desperate for him so I would only offer a 3rd round pick. This is unlikely to get him but so be it...a bonus if we got him, no big deal if we dont.
Can't see the point in us getting a collection of 2nd round picks to just throw one of them away on a player that plays the easiest position on the ground and was not a regular at port. I would rather us play douglas and pfeiffer before symes.
