I am sure i was posting all this in the last couple of years, no flair too many people in the coaching panel have been there too long , including Longmire. I actualy said that we should look at one of the Scott brothers, now Brad is at North and Chris is now at Freo and look how attacking they are. We need a fresh look at footy, a new gameplan and new people. Look at Hardwick, brings in Lade, straight out of playing, when was the last time any of our coaches played-TOO LONG .

Stuart Dew did play last year, but I do get your point. Our coaching staff is rather stale, but Roos wants his own people around him and he has earnt that right to hang on to his coaching staff longer than normal. Longmire at the end of the year more than likely will choose his own staff which will mean some coaches in and some out and thus some fresh ideas. Plus I don't buy the idea that Longmire is a Roos clone, after all Roos was an Assistant to Eade and brought in a completely different style after taking over. So we can't judge Longmire until he has taken over and has put his coaching staff and ideas into place.

We'll find out next year.

fully agree I think having horse as coach will end up being a huge mistake, players will be sick of this game plan by the time he is in, and i think fans have had enough of this defensive style also.

So Longmire has told you what his gameplan for 2011 is going to be already? We can't judge Longmire the Senior Coach by the results of Longmire the Assistant Coach under Paul Roos. For all we know he might be an attack minded Senior Coach, but some aren't giving him a chance because of the results of Paul Roos' game plan.

I too am concerned that Longmire might do things similarly to how Roosy has controlled the club (with great success of course), but Robbie is absolutely right. Have to wait and see, we just cannot comment effectively on it yet. Let's give him the benefit of the doubt for now and give him our full support when he steps in.

Paul Roos has changed his game plan from last year along with the introduction of Rohan and Jetta to the seniors. With more experience these two should continue to improve and looking at the recruits of last year there has been a large change in the type of players we have recruited (fast players with the ability to break lines).

As a geuss I would suggest that Longmire is largely responsible for this due to a change in tactics next year, not a complete overhaul but a new direction for the club to head in over the next few years. I expect similar drafting this year and if this happens then Longmire will have a very diffferent team to choose from in 2 - 3 years.

It says Bird suffered a recurrence of his foot stress injury. Did we bring him back too soon ?
who are our fitness coaches because it leaves alot to be desired. bringing players back too early is becoming a pattern. TK, Bird, Playfair etc all re-injured after returning. White, Moore, Bradshaw, Bolton, Seaby, What's going on??

Footballs a tough game if you haven't noticed, it is played at an amazing pace with massive hits and tackles and players get injured. You can be lucky like 05 or you can have years like this.

Huge downturn in player fitness and injury management since losing our fitness guy to the Saints. Now they are the ones playing hard but managing the injuries as we did through our halycon days. Certainly it's an area the Swans need to look at.

The reason the selection decisions baffle many of us is simply because we are mere fans and to be honest we have f-all idea of how to coach a senior footy team.

Everyone's a critic

Richards to FB, Grundy to FF.

Anyone else think this might be a good idea? Reg hasn't been at his best since Bolts got injured, maybe a spell in the forward line could get him his mojo back.
Teddy would love to get a chance to prove himself too.

Not an outrageous idea considering the dearth of KPF we have right now, but with the Roos' forward line including Hansen (playing very well atm), one of McIntosh or Goldstein resting forward and possibly Petrie returning this week we need Reg down back. Ben Warren is also a bigger body, but i think Mattner will get the job on him.

I think it is almost a certainty that Ted will play this Sunday.

I seem to remember Teddy kicking a couple of bags at FF in his first few praccy matches for us and then never getting another chance forward since.

I reckon he's worth a go forward, tall, athletic, reasonably qucik, and a good mark. Not so sure about his accuracy with set shots though.

I don't know why this hasn't been tried previously for a few matches just to see if would work.

I was going to start a new thread about Longmire, and if things go wrong, who do we look at.

Mark Williams stands out ... he's a good, attacking coach with a really soft team; we provide him with a tough team looking to introduce flair.

I'm really hoping we look at him for an assistant coaching position if he's out of a job at the end of the season.
