with the initial fev deal not going through, should we make a play for him in the final 2 hours of the trade period.
pick 18 + a player (how about Newton). yes I know he would never play in our premiership tilt BUT

there are a lot of positives if we traded for him.

at the very least he will straighten up our team giving us a strong target going forward
will take the best defender, freeing up Jurrah, Watts, Bate and Miller
his experience as a forward and back would be incredible in helping the development of all our key position players
Good publicity for the club that isn't based around our high draft picks
he stands up when it counts and is a big game player which could be the difference between wining 8 or 12 games next year

down sides

he's 31 so probably wouldn't ever play finals for us
questions over his hamstrings and knee
perhaps we'd have to give up too much to get him
salary cap issues (are we still required to keep to minimum payments?)
goes against our youth policy

any thoughts on this?

no terrible idea, hes 31, probably 1 year of football left.

pick 18 gets us a 10 year player

incorrect - pick 18 gets us the possibility of a 10 year player. we also have a chance of picking up a 20 game spud or an average 100 game player

the question is, would we get more out of 2 years of Bradshaw or what we give up to get him

Pick 18 for Bradshaw

I am glad you have nothing to do with the club. Would entertain the thought of picking Bradshaw in the PSD if he is available (is he contracted?). Would be a good foil for Watts and Jurrah for a year or two until they develop a bit more.

Ball would be a much better choice in the PSD. Bradshaw is a gun but it's hard to see him being around when we are going for a flag.

Out of all the threads started during the season and leading up to trade week this is hands down the worst. I thought it was going to suggest Bradshaw for the PSD, but for pick 18 and a plyer LOL NFI!

I would much rather take a chance on a kid who may be no good, but could be a gun to play 200+ games, Bradshaw has only got 2 years in him at best!
