People who lie a lot annoy me greatly, if you love them, thats great for you. People who brag alot, generally aren't that different, though I find them to be better company.

I find people who lie a lot to be of little value, sure they can be entertaining on occasion, but I'm not going to rely on them for anything, and generally they won't interest me that much, as I can't even know if half their stories are true.

People who just talk about themselves on the other hand, can be a lot of fun. Once again though I find it very difficult to trust someone who is very self centered, and will treat them as such. A friend of mine put it extremely well. You can be friends with assholes, as long as you are honest with yourself about them.

I got kicked out of hairy canary Saturday night for being intoxicated .... My mate stayed there chattin up the bar staff finishing his meal and drinks.... He told them he was a surgeon and they believed him(probably due to him being Asian) and let me back inside.

Bad braggers do add the rich tapestry of life, but they are annoying.

The reason is this - by telling you such obvious lies, they are insulting your intelligence.

It's like going to a bad movie. You can't suspend your disbelief and enjoy the show, because the whole time you're sitting there thinking 'Jebus, this is one stupid film' rather than get on with the story.

If a good bragger can suck you in & make an interesting story so that you enjoy it, that's fine. There's an art to that. I don't mind that.

If someone is trying to big themselves up with an obvious lie, it's just annoying. Because you have to pretend you're enjoying the bullshit and play along with them, when the whole experience is actually just tiresome.
