I think that with every one of your Kolo criticisms...

Sorry, just don’t rate him and he was yet again, poor.

what has Kolo got to do with what you posted????......fall back position I guess.

You certainly havent seen me illustrate my critique of Kolo with this emoticon...( :poo: ).......

Why waste keystrokes explaining things about this waster.

He’s being lauded here directly after my comment and because he got 8 clearances he was somehow good. Is that how low our expectations are on this guy?

A good game from him is a measly 16 touches and 8 clearances... but barely above 50% DE. He’s a butcher who regularly makes poor decisions, and can’t handle pressure.

He was poor, and has been poor for a while. I still want him traded.

Atkins got a measly 16 touches tonight too, it was his highest disposal game all year. Atkins best is not much different from parfitts worst.

I largely agree with your assessment. Yes, he can find the ball, but thereafter he either butchers it too often, or is too slow of mind to move it quickly and gets caught.

Yep could of been a star to be honest.

His stats for the 2013 season look super-impressive in hindsight

21 games
443 disposals @ 21.10 per game
23 goals
19 goal assists

This at the age of 22. Amazing how little is made on BigFooty and in the media of the fact that his career kind of petered off after that. Obviously most of the decline was injury-related, but even so...

34 possessions and 8 clearances. I thought it was his best game for the club. Hope this is the emergence of the inside mid we need beyond Joel.

says it all.

parfitt is the only talented young mid that is in the best 22 at this point. The only one.

parfitt is the best tackler in the team.
parfitt has one of the best shimmy’s in the team that enables us to break lines.
parfitt can win his own ball.

Funnily enough what stood out the most for me was his generally good use of the ball, not something he's always been known for...
He, along with Stewart and Duncan were about the only clean players we had yesterday, head and shoulders above their team mates.

I said he was good last night.

But get hung up on something in the past that was true at the time.

solid game but I reckon his game against the saints in Geelong a couple years ago was the best game I've seen him play. He had 28 touches and 3 goals that night.

The broken hand in the Grand Final was very costly to our chances the more I think on it.

Apart from leg speed, he now has the complete game. Pure class and likes hitting opposition bodies more than any other player in our side.

Thrives in the contest.

He just couldn't tackle that night, couldn't cleanly pick up the ball - a broken thumb just has such an impact on what you can't do

You could see him trying to still influence things but his body wouldn't let him - I watched him try to tackle an opponent late in the first quarter and he must have got the thumb in the wrong spot because he just stopped & grabbed his hand

His importance to the team is underrated

Absolutely.

When you have a midfield that is as unaccountable as ours, he is enormously important to our chances. No surprise at all that the Dees mids were rampant in his absence last week. Makes tackles, sticks tackles, shows clean hands, finds space with the footy, and is improving in his disposal effectiveness as well.

One of my most feared omissions from week to week now. Our midfield group is very vulnerable to getting utterly dominated by clearance beasts when he is not out there. No longer just guaranteed 'best 22'. Amongst the first 12 or so names picked for me now.

He complements a midfield like ours extremely well. It will be interesting to see how he evolves his game when Selwood retires. I think he could become a solid 25 disposals per-game player.
He's also hard and tough. Loves a scrap.
Has a knack of kicking goals as well.

I know you can't dwell in the past but just imagine if we still had Kelly and we got Parfitt and Holmes now bursting onto the scene.
Hopefully Cooper Stephens can live upto the hype as a big bodied clearance machine.

Like you, I'm looking forward to seeing Parfitt, Holmes and Stephens all playing in the team together. Will go a long way to making us competitive over the next decade if players like these (as well as Simpson) can be the nucleus of our young midfield coming through.
