Roast Brandon Ellis

Geez definitely jumped the gun here. Wasn't his best night but cut him some slack, he's a 19 year old kid.

Could I request the mods merge this with another Ellis thread? Inappropriate having a 'roast' symbol next to the name Ellis.

He's a little too soft in my opinion. May spend time at Coburg this year
Probably the dumbest post I've ever read on bigfooty (and I've read quite a few of realistic tigers posts so that is saying sump ting). :p

But not his best game tonight, although Morris was also well beaten. Carlton's small forwards are pretty sharp though, so a couple of 2nd year players having an off night in the 1st game of their second year is no biggy.

had a poor game tonight and his adaption to the speed of the game wasn't up to it, but clearly he is young and in his development phase so i wouldnt take too much notice. But if a better player is in form by all means the best form player must play. Ellis has time on his hands.

This thread is well.......

I should make an effort to agree with you more often when I can, RT. ;)

I'm sure Ellis would be his own biggest critic tonight.

He's a good kid, he'll be fine.

Wow some of you blokes are so quick to jump the gun and pick out all the negatives on a sub par performance. This thread belongs with Caroline Wilson's opinion pieces, in the trash pile.

Laying the boot into a 2nd year player after a win like that.

Way to look on the bright side. Fair dinkum we have some dickhead supporters.

Hmm, my problem with Ellis, and he does it all the time is that he rushes his possession. Only once he hit a target tonight and the rest of his kicks were all floaters. We can't have that type of play any more. The main reason this kid was drafted was to use his outside run and kicking ability. However, I rarely see it from him and it was non-existent tonight. Furthermore, he isn't really that great one-on-one. Not poor, but he gets beaten often. I get the whole thing that he's a second player, I think he'll be a beauty, but I am still a firm advocate that we should be playing the best available. I wouldn't expect less from the club. Thus if the club believes that Petterd/Vlad/Grimes could come in and benefit the team more than Brandon then omit him.
Would you like us to play the best available like Wallace did for 4 and a half years ?

Tell me why.
Undisciplined 50 meters, turnover after turnover, shit himself more than once....I'll just put it down to a bad game because I thought he was terrific last year.

I thought Reece Conca was awesome tonight - Looked really tough and hard on the inside tonight
Disagree with this nearly as much as I agree with this thread . Conca turned the footy over often as did he give it to blokes by hand that where blind sides and under the pump . Like Ellis it is what is expected , lets not forget Ellis like Morris is going to take time to get used to the stupid below the knees rule more than most .

The joys of being a young richmone player and the expectations that go with it.

I hate the poster who wants to be the first to lay the boots into a young player. It's like they love the feeling they get when they have seen something others haven't and get a kick out of people attacking them. When in reality everyone can see the same but understand that the reality Is young players take time and the difference between highs and lows is far and inconsistency is normal. last year it was Batch.
The kid had shown enough to be carried to the seasons end

Too many spectators have zero concept of how difficult the game must be at the elite level.
He is a teenager, that was his 22nd game.

So doesnt deserve to be hit over the head for it.

But the question this year is do we keep him in the seniors or is Hardwick going to send him back to Coburg until ready. We are in it to win this year and it will be interesting to see whether our new recruits are there to make guys like Ellis earn their games and have to re earn on poor performances. Being sent back to Coburg is still development but different to our 'see who we have got' policy of earlier years.

Agree. He is hard, not soft. Plus he got a head knock in second quarter. The opening post to this thread is stupid. Mods should merge thread with other Ellis threads and remove roast.
