This isn’t the circumstances I wanted our club to do a double take on their potential irresponsibility but they sure have a duty to their stakeholders now to reassess.

I have no issue with trading for him, paying a fair price even (second rounder), but six years is no bueno, even before this

He is a RFA so no trade capital is required but $900K at 6 years is insane.

You are mistaken. That is only for a matched bid which he refuses to accept. All WC would have to do is not make an RFA offer. He then refuses Brisbane's contract. Free to go into the PSD.

FFS this is not how Restricted Free Agency works…it has been explained 10+ times in this thread that the PSD is not an option in any way, shape or form for an RFA

National draft yes…PSD no

Not really sure that is worthy of discussion anymore. We need to figure out if he retires or plays on before the trade talk I reckon

In this situation trade capital is required or Oscar Allen's compensation will be diluted. Highly likely to be the pick the AFL give to WC for extra assistance. The AFL has already made a statement saying this.

Chances of him staying are higher now if West Coast get cold feet after recent head knock.

We'd love to keep him in the 2-3 year contract and nurse him back to full health- however long it takes.

Ahhh I’m no doctor but I’m pretty sure that’s not quite how concussions and serious brain trauma injuries work….

We gave him 2-3 months off last time. We could give a year off and see how he goes. He's a dual premiership player for us so we'll try more than most clubs out there.

Yea look that might work for the short term and minor knocks but there comes a time and I’d be pretty confident it’s well at that stage ,where the risk to Brandon’s long term health is just too great that the risk of even just a minor concussion could have serious implications for his quality of life outside of football

Your a long time retired and some of the stories I’ve heard from players in all sports of on going medical episodes related to concussions sound down right traumatic

Concussion is not the type of injury you can 'nurse back to health'. It's likely the afl medical panel decide his fate from here you would think.

It's a rough position to be in for Starcevich. I wouldn't be surprised if he just called it quits after another head knock. He's got his medals and his money.

I'm guessing the medicals done by the clubs will be extensive, I wonder if the AFL medical panel will get involved as well.

If he was contracted to 2028 people would be saying for him to retire. Because he has no contract apparently he needs to push on and play.

Seems stupid to me

Trying to ask this respectfully, but if the Eagles signed him to a giant deal knowing his concussion issues - if he medically retired hypothetically in a couple years due to concussion, would they be able to claim a medical retirement and cap concessions, or is it buyer beware? There’s zero chance his contract would be insurable given the risk.
