Brandon White
15 disposals, 12 kicks, four marks
“White was significant again and helped out Browny down back. He’s had an outstanding block, he’s putting his hand up strongly for us and if he keeps doing that, he’ll get his opportunity soon. On the whole, I thought he was one of our better defenders.”

“He’s knocking at the door I would have thought for AFL selection. He’s very good in the air, very good with our system and structure and we love what he does with the footy. He’s a competent player, Whitey, and I’m pretty bullish on him playing AFL.”

“Whitey’s been very, very good for us. He’s got really good game sense in the way he’s been able to defend strongly and then use the ball when we need to use it well, whether it be a quick kick, or going lateral or around them. He’s in good form and he put another strong one together.”

What more does he have to do to get a game ?

Brandon White
26 disposals, 21 kicks, seven marks, four tackles

“He’s a beauty, Whitey. He’s obviously put another one together in the mid-20s and he was really strong and was able to set us up. He’s our quarterback really, especially with Hindy, Pato and co. out of the side. He keeps putting his name up and the important part is he can deliver consistent performances.”

“We just want to keep adding to his play [by placing him on the wing at centre bounces], Whitey. We think because he reads the game so well and he’s got good decision-making skills and he can kick the footy, so we think on the wing we can get him to be in the spot for us that we like at the right time. His defensive patterns are good for us and hopefully we can keep adding bits and pieces to his armoury.”

Defender Brandon White (23 disposals, seven marks) was once again at his fluent best across half-back for Sandringham, putting on a clinic of precise kicking, proficient rebounding and aerial prowess.
The classy left-footer has managed just one senior game in 2019, but his hard approach and intercepting ability could see him regain his spot.

Brandon White has enjoyed a superb year off half-back in the VFL and could slot seamlessly into Coffield’s role in defence.

Armed with a precise kick and an ability to launch attacks off the half-back line, 22-year-old could have an immediate impact should he be selected.

White has averaged 21 disposals and six marks across his 12 matches for Sandringham, playing just the one senior game this season before a corked thigh cut his run short.

There is no doubting Brandons effort and kicking skill . But unfortunately every time he breaks into the team he gets injured and misses a few weeks which drops him back to the seconds again . Needs a good run away from injuries . I have a feeling if we trade him he will play like 140 games straight for that team and become one of the best half back flankers going around .

Emerging defender Brandon White has topped Sandringham's 2019 Best & Fairest alongside Zebras skipper Brede Seccull.

  • Brandon White's terrific season for Sandringham has been rewarded with the club's Neil Bencraft Best & Fairest.
The 22-year-old was a joint winner of the award alongside Zebras skipper Brede Seccull, with the pair topping the count on 87 votes apiece.
Saints Jonathon Marsh, Bailey Rice and Darragh Joyce also polled strongly after consistent campaigns down back, while Hunter Clark, David Armitage, Luke Dunstan and Ben Paton rounded out the top-10 despite their limited stints in the yellow, black and blue.
White was frequently among Sandringham's best performers from week-to-week, averaging 20 disposals, 16 kicks and five marks across his 14 outings.

His class and execution off half-back, penetrating kick and proficiency in the air became valuable assets for Aaron Hamill's side, particularly towards the back half of the season as injuries took their toll on the young team.
The Dandenong Stingrays product often served as the springboard out of defence, with his trademark yellow long sleeves a welcome sight for the Sandringham faithful.
White was at his best against Collingwood with a match-winning 25 disposals and 11 marks, while an equally impressive effort against Footscray (31 disposals, 25 kicks, 10 marks) highlighted his consistent influence on the contest.
He also charted another seven games with 20 or more possessions.
The No. 31 notched up his 50th game for Sandringham in Round 20 against Port Melbourne after making his VFL debut as a 19-year-old in 2016.
White played one game for the Saints in 2019 against Gold Coast in Round 13, before corking his thigh during the match.
His match-winning rundown tackle on Jack Lukosius in the dying minutes gifted the Saints their sixth win of the season, despite the steadfast defender being confined to the forward 50 after his injury.
White becomes the first St Kilda-listed player to win the Neil Bencraft Best & Fairest since Cameron Shenton in 2016.

"Bailey and Brandon arrived at the club together in 2015 and should be proud of the way they have acquitted themselves," football manager Simon Lethlean told saints.com.au.

”They are held in high regard by their teammates and coaches, and we wish them all the best for the future.
