A comedy-drama centred around Vinnie O'Neill and his petty criminal gang of friends in a northern town in England. There's about eight main characters and several others who regularly get involved.

There's hilarity of dialog and slapstick, mixed with poignant moments. I would say the writing is as good as Ted Lasso.

It has had six seasons and is now available on Netflix.

There's a few recurring themes to look out for.

Nosy shot the crow.

Anyone climbing over a gate, someone else will push it open.

I started this after seeing recommendation on Netflix thread. Thought it was new but it has 6 seasons! Churning through it and half way through second. Pretty funny. Has a lot of heart.

Also, I don’t think I’ve seen anyone smoke as much as Tommo in TV, movies or real life. No wonder he’s short. Haha

Cracking series glad there is a thread about it after some discussion on the Netflix thread.

The feud between Jim and Shirley is my favourite on the show.

Also the tattoo progression of Joe Gilgun in real life, suits Vinnie as his character progresses.

Up to season 5 now and will finish 6 on SBS

Finished season 6 and the quality was maintained. I liked the way they had episodes fleshing out the characters such as Farmer Jim, Carol and Tommo while still keeping all the slapstick of the gang's antics.

Heh! I got all excited when I saw a S7 advertised, and put it on Season Record, but sadly, I'd already seen it. Great show, though, and mixed comedy with the more serious realities well. Set not too far from me too, so know the area.

My mate who lives in that area refuses to watch it. Says if he wants to see that he will look out of the window. It's a romanticised version of these scumbags but it's very funny and has some reflections on life.

Season 7 was good but the last episode was poor.
