Yeah but that doesn’t change the fact he’s being paid 900k. I’d imagine Maynard and his manager would be asking for big bucks.People forget that both Port and Hawks had Simmlar offers to what Collingwood has him on

He signed a contract extension in 2021. Do you think in 2021 he would be paid $800k pa?Because he is on significant unders and youve paid Perryman 900k a year.
Maynard is not on big money.

He was probably on about $500k-$550k which would have been about right in 2021.
What's that worth today? Probably $750k pa
If North only offered him $800k, we wouldn't need to offer him anymore than $650k pa.But thats the issue. He now needs to be paid more than Perryman as hes a better player at the moment. Collingwood wont do it.
If North offered 800k to 900k, Collingwood wouldnt match it.

So is Maynard being paid $700k now?
Where did you get your $450k?
Why does Maynard need to be paid more than Perryman?
It’s not how it works at AFL clubs.
Or, why does Collingwood need to match a North offer if $800k-$900k for him to stay? Why didn’t the GWS kid take $1.7m to go to North?
if you can’t work it out, I can’t help you.
We would do 4 years at 700K. He is not leaving for an extra 50K a year after tax.Understand he went nuts when the Perryman offer came through and has been banging on about it ever since. Its nearly double what Maynard is on.
The brother obviously involved as well which makes sense.
4 x 800 with a trigger for a 5th.
Will be band 2 compo unfortunately for the Pies.

Friends at the PiesWhy would he stay for less when hes been playing for less for years?
North is his chance to collect a signficant pay day to finish off.
Friends at the Pies
Knows and likes the coach
Facilities are better
Feels comfortable where he is
One club premiership champions get more after retirement benefits
Collingwoods track record
North's track record.
Big crowds
Wow. Its a categoric fact that they arent.
They probably would pound for pound. But doubt its a big enough margin even for consideration. North’s facilities are fine.
It’s not like Melbournes or Waverley (soon to be irrelevant) vs the rest of the Melbourne clubs
You have gone a bit big on the "Wow" aspect. If North have better facilities then the Pies, it wouldn't be by much. All of the other 8 points I mentioned are valid and there are many more. To get him to North the offer would have to be big overs on both contract and money. One extra year and an extra 100K traditionally hasn't made a difference. North has not been a popular destination even when offering big overs.Wow. Its a categoric fact that they arent.

Sorry edit St KildaNorth never offered Callaghan $1.7m, St Kilda did.
I’d be offering very short odds that number from Twomey has come from Rawlings/Thursfield, who is usually spot on with this stuff, both use him as their preferred journo, probably to try and correct the Jay Clark clickbait.
The presumption is also this is entirely about money. His brother is a really loved member of staff at the club, is it not possible that he’s at all sold him on the project, playing list, Clarko etc? Especially as both lists will possibly trend in opposite directions over his final contract.
The thing you can’t beat is playing in front of big crowds.I can assure you right now North Melbournes facilities are better than Collingwoods.
Collingwoods facilities wouldnt be in the top 6 or 7 in the league.
The location is what is keeping them there. Nothing else.
West Coast
Brisbane
GWS
Essendon
Geelong
All clear standouts. Hawthorn about to be the best in Melbourne.
North, Dogs, Saints, Carlton, Collingwood all next level down.
Collingwoods facility is not at the top by any stretch.
He said he wants to be the captain of Collingwood. He just absolutely loves the club.North never offered Callaghan $1.7m, St Kilda did.

Even Reid was asked pre-draft who he wanted to play for and he said The Pies because you get to play in front of big crowds each week.
I’m surprised you have to measure facilities as a major factor. Facilities are always upgraded. Those clubs you have mentioned who apparently have ‘superior’ facilities (and I don’t know how you have judged that) had poor facilities for so long and finally upgraded to play catchup. It’s likely the Pies will jump ahead once again when they are next due for an upgrade.
Jay Clark reporting on fox footy north offering 6 years at 1 mil - 900k a year.
Thats not enough to get him out surely. Why the **** would he take that to go play for the Roos lol. Play in front of 20k at marvel in a shit team or 80k week in week out with a team primed for a flag?
Know what I would pick.
North supporters would have to be one of the more delusional supporter bases there is.

Our longest absence from preliminary finals since 2000 is five years (2013-2017). Have we not replenished our list at all in that period? In that time we’ve managed out cores of Buckley, Licuria, Burns, Clement, Rocca and Tarrant and then Cloke, Swan, Shaw, Beams, Thomas, Didak et al and still generally found a way to be around the mark again quicker than the timeframe you’re now suggesting we’ll have to suffer through. After this year Pies wont be primed for a flag over the next 6 years.
They will need to replenish the aging list sometime and somehow.
