I am a massive Maynard fan and think he'd be a great get for North, but 6 years seems crazy.

Just because Collingwood did something, it doesn't mean you have to pay 29 year old Brayden Maynard $1m per year for 6 years.

But what this shows is a change in landscape, butterfly effect the Pies paid massive overs for Perryman at the expense of losing Maynard.
I think Maynard is a better player but less time in the sport this deal from North clearly extends his career.

I get the interest for sure. Luke McDonald is deplorable and well past jhis used by date. They also have a giant issue of having too seemingly massively overpay at the trade table to get anyone in ie. Caleb Daniel.
I think Maynard will get 6 years out of himself. He is a A grade professional, always injury free and plays a spot that has longevity. The money will be front loaded also so in years 4 5 and 6 will be on much less. IMO id do the deal if im North. It lets them keep the picks and fix a giant hole

Not too sure how correct these numbers would be but lets just assume the $1 mil is correct

Gets him the extra 2 years, more security etc ... is a decent deal for us should he get injured and lose form in year 3 (which is fine by me and pretty much expected)

He barely misses a game. The first of his draft class to get over 200 games. Consistently good. Hard. Passionate. Big leg. Can play tall or small. Not the most productive and hasn't shown anything when not playing defense. If you got some cash he is a good choice. The only issue would be the 6 years. It takes him to 35 which is crazy. They must be willing to from load the he'll out of that contract imo.

We match that offer with 3-4 years.
He wouldn't move for that. We would do 750K and 4 years imo at the Pies. We also extend durable older players so there would be a good chance to get a few 1 year extensions. He is very durable. The 1st of his draft class to get 200 games. We can't match 1 million and 6 years imo.
