Player Watch Brayden Maynard

It's been mentioned before but i just saw the footage again on the 7 news report, and I swear if Brayshaw doesn't veer to his right at the last second Maynard smashes into his shoulder and half misses him. The rest of the report takes a pretty slanted stance that is an example of the pressure that is stating to mount over this case. Honestly I fully expect us to get screwed here and Im already mentally preparing for it.
The issue with it is the media have had days to discuss at nausisim, it should have been dealt with within 24-48hrs.

Surely, that has to be something the AFL seriously consider.

If this incident is being viewed as so much worse & traumatic due to Brayshaw's history...well, then perhaps if he is such a risk, he really should not be playing contact sport. Petracca said yesterday that his concussions were from 6 years ago, and not recent..and he had a bit of a sore neck.

Today, the narrative has completely turned to brain scans, retirement and justice for Brayshaw.

And why is it when Murphy gets knocked out, he gets called a flop? He's had multiple concussions, but doesn't get much empathy.
If you want to know why the narrative from Melbourne has changed ask yourself - who are Melbourne likely to be playing if they make to the GF?

There’s your answer.

I think so. Some talk in this thread about the "egg shell skull rule", but don't see how that's relevant in a contact sport. Everyone signs up to there being some level of physical contact, so if a player had that degree of risk it would not be the fault of any player who might make minimal contact to their head. It is not general society where people should be able to go about there business without others making contact with them. Do agree that if a player is passed fit to play that prior concussion history isn't a factor in liability.

The question will be, increasingly, when is a player with multiple concussions no longer healthy enough to play?

I heard that this was Brayshaw's first concussions in 6 years? So not sure there's any reason to be saying he shouldn't be out there.

Agree on Murphy. Not sure if it's his lower profile, but the media have made many insensitive comments, ignoring his history.

I would have thought Dee's would love Bruz to be playing on GF day if they were to make it...

Anyone else feel deflated about this whole situation whether Maynard is cleared or not.

It's really taken the sting out of a hard fought and impressive win on Thursday night.

Don’t worry, the sting will be back tomorrow evening, and we will add the best sting in the league by Friday week.

Just also heard the report about Bruz visit to Angus house as “awkward” as there were already some Melbourne players and they were angered by it.. one of them had to remove themselves from the room. If true what a bunch of absolute self righteous w***ers. What a legend fronting up and making that effort to check in.

The amount of sooking and carry on from Melbourne is cringe.
There’s no carry on for JVR’s elbow on McStay…
Words like justice and intending to hurt…it’s bordering on embarrassing now the way they’re conducting themselves

I heard JVR came around to visit McStay, and Noble offered him a cup of old Gatorade he just happened to have lying around.

The AFL messaging here that is being missed is; if Maynard stayed on the ground and run through Brayshaw clipping him with an elbow (Van Royen) its a one week ban. If he coathangered him (Martin) its a two week ban. He had options other than trying to touch the ball in the air.

I haven't understood the AFLs leniency on intentional acts lately.

Reasoning has gone out the door and emotions have taken over. Hopefully facts and evidence is all that matters.

There are NRL finals on. This type of controversy pushes anything they do to the depths of the media reports.
They love that.

Yes I totally agree..if he is fit to play and wants to play, that's fine, play.

But what I've found annoying, particularly in the past 24 hours, is using his helmet & concussion history to get extra sympathy.

Can't have it both ways.

Chris Scott doing his best to get Bruz suspended. Comparing it to when Tom Stewart cleaned up Prestia. 🤪

Maynard should have laid on the ground and pretended he was concussed.

Then it's just 2 tough players having a collusion.
