The way the story has been framed makes it sound like Bruz turned up at his house unannounced. Do you reckon he did that or do you reckon they probably texted about it first...?
Whatever the case its an honourable thing to do that most guys wouldn't have the balls to

Seeing as the Melb board seem to take concussion so seriously, is Goodwin campaigning for a longer penalty for van rooyen? I mean, mcstay could very easily have been knocked out/concussed from an iLLEGAL football act.

I look forward to them asking for a more severe penalty

I loved that Robbo pushed him to actually show what he meant. For him to then actually show he should of in the split second decide to hug him on the way down was one of the most idiotic things I have heard and seen. The arguments that he has around duty of care is is the exact reason he should get off. Angus duty of care is no more important than Bruz duty for himself and balances out the result in this scenario.

It’s hilarious.

If you look back to my post #4320, in the stills Bruz goes from maybe 2m or so away, to being a foot from Brayshaw’s face, and in that time he probably manages to extend his elbows 15 degrees.

The media forget how unnervingly fast this all happens in real time. They talk as though Maynard had time to pen a letter to the editor over scones and tea. He didn’t even have time to brace properly, he just moved his head to the left.

Jump in the air and then tilt your head to the left. Notice which way your right shoulder and hips go. That’s all Maynard had time for.

You mean you attempted to enunciate a proclivity to a sibling?
Everyone in the world: “The player has been hit in the head and knocked out”

Gerards version:

“The athlete has endured a forceful impact to the cranial region, resulting in a state of unconsciousness. This occurrence signifies a significant event within the context of the sporting endeavor, as the individual's cognitive faculties have been temporarily suspended due to the vigorous collision. This incident underscores the paramount importance of safety measures and vigilance in the athletic arena, as the player's incapacitation serves as a poignant reminder of the potential risks inherent in competitive sports.”

I disagree. I reckon he'll get off. End of the year, the AFL will fine-tune the law in regards to smothering and if it happens again the player will most likely get suspended.
I pray you're right and I'm wrong. I just have no faith with anything in regards to fair and just these days with the AFL.

By the way some of these pork chops are carrying on about him, you'd think Bruz would kick his door down armed with a tomahawk and raid his kitchen

Its like a 12yo virgin getting a thesaurus for Xmas

I usually agree with Whateley's tribunal assessments, not this one. He didn't come out and say he expects a suspension, but his view that once Maynard jumped that contact was inevitable is simply wrong. His view that Maynard could do anything else other than brace I'm not sure is reasonable and there's the Lynch precedent where he did brace and was ticked off.

Ross Lyon's point that you do have to have some consideration when launching for a ball is to me the real sticking point. How likely was the collision? Is a smother attempt completely different to a marking attempt where you are allowed to launch at players?

Chris Scott doing his best to get Bruz suspended. Comparing it to when Tom Stewart cleaned up Prestia. 🤪

Yep, watching AFL360 I didn’t think I could dislike Chris Scott any more. But I do. Not only has he found fault with what Maynard did, but he managed to blame Fly for it, for not coaching Bruzzy to avoid it.

Maynard should have laid on the ground and pretended he was concussed.

Then it's just 2 tough players having a collusion.

This is too true. The conversation would be about how courageous they all are.

He should have walked off with assistance of trainers and gotten assessed in the rooms, take the heat out of the situation.

Just also heard the report about Bruz visit to Angus house as “awkward” as their were already some Melbourne players and they were angered by it.. one of them had to remove themselves from the room. If true what a bunch of absolute self righteous w***ers. What a legend fronting up and making that effort to check in.
Yep, Melbourne have brought on a lot of hate, their coach is a F idiot, the playing group becoming righteous precious cargo. I actually want Carlscum to beat them, as hard as that is to want to happen, I FN hope so!!

Chris Scott just upset he's not in the cool kids clique from that Brissy team with Fly, Voss and Leppa. He needs to go to jelly school.

Didn’t Duncan collide with a North player after jumping for a smother?

Well, Chris Scott and Ross Lyon - two pretty brutal players in their day - didn't do Maynard any favours on AFL360. They were both leaning towards suspension, seemingly with heavy hearts (or the pretence thereof).

I think its a near certainty that he'll initially be suspended. Ultimately his fate will rest on appeal, and whether we can successfully argue that the collision wasn't "reasonably foreseeable" when Maynard leaped into the air to attempt to smother the ball. If we can, then its fails the AFL's definition of "careless" and there is no case to answer.

Did he really blame Fly ?
The world has gone mad over this
