Did well to get him with pick 30.

Won't be goin bust picking him, which is a fitting juxtaposition, because he'll make a career out of bustin up the opposition.

"Buster" would be a great nickname

Really really like this kind of pick, he is the ideal type to pick at this range. Having said that, Pickett at 5 would've been perfect.

idk i am torn between :

a) Brayden the Buster
b)Brayden the Bully

can we please have a vote on that

This kid looks like he could be the Tom Langdon of 2015.
Seems like he could come in and play (maybe as sub) from round one of necessary.

Too simple to look at it like that

If he regularly kicks it 55 metres+ and has a 62% efficiency but a player who always chips it 20 metres sideways has a 70% efficiency who is a better kick?

Neither. A 55m kick to a one on one is considered an effective kick.

Champion data have probably the best rating for kicking, but they guard it with their lives so we'll never really know how Maynard looks v the rest of his draft class. What they look it is the expected hit rate so they say we expect a guy to hit that sideways pass 100% of the time so they don't reward him for doing it, but they punish him for not. They treat the 55m kick to a contest the same way, but will likewise punish him for turning it over.

On the flipside the guy that hits up a 40m pass, on the run, I50 and to a leading player will be well rewarded for doing it because it's so tough, but not punished if he misses it. The sort of kick I'm talking here was like the bullet Seedsman delivered to Cloke against GC.

It's all about the expectation on the outcome. Throughout 2014 Weller went at +34% in this area which means of all his kicks he made 34% more than he was expected to (which is A grade).

Really like this selection and am rapt what I am hearing and reading about Maynard.

Seems a good pick to me for the following reasons:

- the guy can kick and has a lethal left foot out of defence/mid (seriously lacking atm)
- He is a really nice height for a HBF/mid (addresses that need)
- He is a competitive beast. Love hearing from Hine that "He tackles to hurt" and from his own mouth that (paraphrasing a little) "I love being aggressive", "I love the physical side of things", "I like to protect people and stick up for my team mates if I feel they are getting bullied"
- from post draft interview on Pies website : Out of all the clubs we visited him the most (3 times) so it sounds like we were pretty keen on him and they got their man.
- Likens himself to Jordan Lewis (yes please). One of my biggest regrets was us missing this guy in his draft year due to some dud trading.
- Tweets from other Pies players (Freeman ex Sandy & Ben Kenn) seem genuinely rapt to have him on board; and
- He was touted to go between 15-25ish by most experts (Rumours Crows were keen at 14) so he wasn't really on my radar and seems a little bit of a steal at 30.

I think we might have a goody here. In Hine we Trust.

His Kicking is Elite but Is there a Reason why it’s not a Tad Higher like our Pick 5 De Goey who is averages between 70-80% by Foot?

Maybe he just tries to pull off too much and stuffs it up. So it may be decision making rather than skills?

What I have read about him. His Kicking is seen as Elite but There was not much mention about his Descion Making. So it might not be Perfect every time.

Video showing he can use it well but might have times as you say might try to do to much with it at times

Probably the kid I am most excited about we have struggled for great Half backs for a while

Benny J and Shaw were our best two and by the sounds of it this kid defends as good and has better kicking

Hard nut small defender with elite kicking and tackles to hurt droolworthy

Frost has good disposal effeciency, does that mean he's a good kick?

Disposal efficiency isn't the best indicator for a players kicking skills.

Yeah your right but are you saying someone like Maynard does not have elite kicking skills

Well, from what I've heard and seen in his highlights he does, I guess I'll just have to wait and see, but the disposal effeciency stat ins't the be all and end all.
