Yeah that seems contradictory to anything else I've read on him. Urghh! Delete it now.

When was that written? They have him as a small fwd/mid in the Paul Puoplo mould. Also says he isn't an overly impressive kick. Sounds like the wrong bloke.

To be fair on Keeffe the kick in structures were poor and our ruckman are still working on contested marking. He is a nice kick and has made some really slick passes on the field.

No offence to Keeffe but I would rather him not play much AFL next year in the first place. Two of Reid, Brown and Frost should play every game next year as our KPD.

I see allot of potential to Keeffe, moves very well for someone who is 204cm and is a really good kick and rebounder. The Frost and Brown combination I don't like at all.

Yeah I rate Keeffe but it's more a mental thing with him which is difficult to fix

Reid needs to play forward. White is no good as a second forward, he just doesn't present enough as a dangerous target. Our forward line was a rabble last year without him.

Our back line has enough KPP's to cover for Reid, and you're underselling Keeffe in a huge way. He had a stinker last year, but in 2012 he held our back line together before he did his knee, and he was very good in tandem with Brown in 2013 when Reid was released forward.

Coincidentally, Reid averaged more goals per game playing as a forward in 2013 than any other player in the league. (25 goals from 8 games)

Until we have another genuine forward target to take the pressure off Trav, Reid needs to be played forward.

STRENGTHS:
Contested Ability: At junior level Maynard has shown an outstanding ability to absorb contact and thrive in contested situations. He’s a big body at 87kg and uses his size well to win the hard ball. As to be expected of a larger player, Maynard is a strong tackler, he laid 5 tackles per game in the U18 Champs and 6 per game in the TAC Cup, both being well above average for those competitions.

Versatility: Maynard has produced and been a consistent force for Sandringham in midfield (in patches), but mostly up forward and down back. He has shown no large technical weaknesses in any area of the ground and has been a valuable piece in all three areas of the ground.
Down back Maynard has impressed with his defensive ability, he uses his body to his advantage and can win his own football. Rebound wise Maynard is an accurate but not overly damage kick of the football who at times lacks polish, but can spot up team-mates quite cleanly. At his size he would be able to play the medium defender role very well at the highest level.
Up forward Maynard can hit the scoreboard efficiently and makes the best out of his time in the forward half, he knows where to go and kicks truly between the big sticks.

WEAKNESSES:
Running Ability: Maynard will have to work on his running ability and endurance to make a larger impact in the midfield at any level. He played a lot of the season in the back-line for the Sandringham Dragons, despite showing a lot of ability in the engine room of midfield, with one of the reasons being his developing aerobic ability. Maynard’s beep test, VO2 max scores and 3K Test scores all would have him ranked in the bottom third at the Draft Combine, it’s the first area he will start to work on at an AFL club.

Size Step Up: A minor question mark on Maynard is whether or not he will make the step up to a higher level when other players will have a similar build. I think it’s a fair criticism, especially with Maynard’s use of his body and his physicality.

I think with he Competivness and Physical Game he should be fine - Also his Attitude.

But they also say Maynard is very Evasive and hard to Tackle. Pressure is a big part of AFL Footy and he does that very well. Has Descent Speed.

It is a super Minor Thing - Just because he is going up against Men and Not Boys?

Thank god, maybe we can develop someone who can actually competently do it now.

Its the attitude that matters the most. We can fix his physical deficiencies with few pre seasons . If he has the heart, he will succeed in this league
