I have no expectations of him despite believung his torso and head have appeal in the way of a nice looking thoroughbred. He looks the goods but is he? Reminiscent of players going back to wes fellowes whose bodies which promisef so much ultimately failed to deliver. Really he can break Hine. If he's ordinary then Hine spotted talent that was not there. He needs to succeed for the preservation of Hine's ctedibility.

I'm with you on this. If he proves to be a dud my faith in Hine will have taken a mortal hit.

Talk about agendas lol
What a juvenile post. Assessing someones performance in their role.. a crucial role at that... is a necessary and perfectly reasonable discussion to be having in a footy forum. It's clear you don't understand and you are welcome (and free) not to contribute to the discussion. But please don't try to impute that it is being done in bad faith as part of an "agenda".

Agreed. Let's stop treating Sier as a punt from left field and rather as a calculated selection by an adtute recruiter who knows a winner when he sees one. I expect Sier to be best 22 next year and have him penciled in at this stage. Anything less and I will be mounting a call for a head on a platter. No agenda. Just sizing up the worth and vision of our recruiters.

I don't have him anywhere near best 22 next year and it will be a development year for him. If he's not pushing into the side in 2018 then the alarm bells will be ringing. Wouldn't mind him being blooded at some stage next year though.

I only have him penciled in because of several posters adamant that he would be in the team. Realistically he would have to improve out of sight on last years performance and would need to throw off the back injury that' beset him. If he is not naking the odd appearance I reckon he can safely be erased and replaced.

Actually I do believe it's 2018 for which I penciled him in. So he does have one more development year.

Lol tag team jueveniles pumping up each others tyres - school hols can't finish quick enough.
I noticed some posters having a conversation about the prospects of the player named in the thread, which doesn't seem to justify your lame attempt at insult.

Don't mind us rolling the dice with Sier. Offers something a little different to our midfield. Other options would have been Balic, Bonner, Mathieson, Hibberd. Without knowing much of any of them, not sure if they would have offered us anything different.

Mathieson would have taken our ducking skills to a new level.

Sorry if I have a small chuckle.
Sier makes it, great.
Sier is an average conveyance, so be it.
Sier never gets there, so be it.
A recruiter does not rise and fall on one player, in my view.
If people think it's that simple I'd suggest they take up twitter or stick to twitter.
Nice and simple, keeping it really simple.

I have no intention of tweeting or twittering so you will have to continue to follow my simplistic opinions and half baked thoughts on this board SV.

I don't mind us taking Sier ATM because looking at those blokes he's not that far behind them. Mathieson has the most runs on the board but strikes me as a player who's getting games because he was developed early. Can easily drop off the board quickly.

Balic was injured all year, apparently came back strong after that but see what happens this year. Should get games if not injured in Freos side.

Bonner played the last game of the year looks ok. Think he was more solid in the SANFL than a standout. Kicking was his weapon in draft year. Although I always thought it was a little overrated so will be interesting to see how he translates to AFL.

Hibberd played VFL all year avg 19 touches. Didn't play a senior game.

So looking at those guys there's not much of a difference. Sier is still the youngest and can put in a good year of VFL he can catch up quite quickly.

Yep, being bottom aged among the cohort means he's potentially up to 8 months younger than some of these other guys he's being compared to which buys him a little bit of extra time. Would still like to see him staking a strong claim for a senior game via consistent quality form at VFL level. A senior debut would be a bonus and hopefully comes due to form rather than injury.

You make a very strong case about a relative bunch of nonames taken after Sier.

Sier is being more harshly judged than he should be because he was the first player we picked after trading away our first pick. If we have drafted another nobody with our first pick then Sier wouldnt have got nearly the scrutiny he is under...being the second player chosen.. But we wouldnyt have Treloar...

The one player that was picked early that should be pushing for regular 22 is Broomhead. If he doesn't work out thats 2 picks wasted in the same draft when we were meant to be replacing premiership players.
