Yeah all clubs make mistakes but you just have a feeling about Sier. Like Marsh the only thing really holding him back is his engine. Sier is going to take 3 or 4 preseasons before it really develops.

Three or four seasons? For a number 32 pick? So we can't even assess or criticise him for another 3 years without being harangued mercilessly for jumping the gun on him?! Why didn't we rookie him?

Wow! That was a bit of an over reaction to what I posted regarding Siers' fitness. The issues you have posted frankly I don't care about! Sorry but I can't help you there!

Demand, i imagine, he would have gone earlier is the word on the street.
Not quite sure what is to be gained by haranguing a young project player just yet.

(Boo, Melbourne Storm just lost to Cronulla)

Bont in the end came from nowhere to be a top 4 pick, never a high possie player back then, reckon Siers ( in the highlight reel) showed more, get his fitness as sharp as possible, then anything is possible !

Bont was always regarded as a first rounder, so didn't really come from nowhere. He was much like Pendles in that he was regarded as a pick in the teens until late in the piece when he rocketed up to top 5.

I am not haranguing anyone ... I am anticipating being harangued, being the one on the receiving not doing end. I don't care what anyone says .. 4 years is too long to wait for a pick 32 to show AFL form. :p

I doubt you would be harangued. Also doubt we would be waiting 4 years to know.
But patience is cheap.
Do we condemn Eg Grundy (randomly selected ofcourse ;)) for his first few years before he emerged this year.
Ruckmen take time.
Sier may or may not make it, but if he's identified as a great potential mid,by all means draft him.
It's a crap shoot anyway.
The real strike rates of any clubs drafting you may find is not particularly high.
I think people that get snarky at Derek Hine are being a bit impolite. He does a fine job, not sure why we'd bag one of our better assets. Doesn't make sense to me.
Makes me wonder who drafted Grundy.... now who could that be....?
Siers draft year also netted us Phillips, Crocker, Wills, (Smith as a rookie) so looks like we went ok, this far.

(Ps the in Hine we trust thing, is just a bit of fun, don't think he prints his stationery with it, it's just a big footy silliness, but harmless.)

I know you do :)
Or assumed you did

More than people sometimes realise. Very rarely i lose any sort of cool on here.
Or as jules says to Yolanda in Pulp Fiction

Jules: what does Fonzie do
Yolanda: he's cool
Jules: Correctamoondo

if he doesn't get injured next season and doesn't play senior footy its fair to say he's unlikely to be around in 2018.

The only reason we drafted Grundy is because every other club passed on him. By our turn, only the midgets and hopefuls, along with a few tall forward 'prospects' remained. For a club with no ruckman, Grundy was a no-brainer, particularly as he was expected to go in the top 5. Our next two picks have somewhat underwhelmed - Kennedy and Broomhead. Not a great draft really after pick 18. Hrovat at 21 is not getting a game with the Bulldogs. Would Tim O'Brien or James Stewart been better pick-ups? Perhaps.

Our selections after Sier were astute. No complaints with Phillips, Smith, Wills and Crocker.
