Full pre-season this year and a good run of games at VFL level and we will know a bit more. The club obviously sees a lot to like about this kid and I am very hopeful.

Then why post if you find talking about player numbers pointless?

Oh, never mind......I just read your last sentence.

You just posted to pot somebody.
No that last sentence relates to a previous discussion between myself and SV. Why you bothered to interjrct yourself into a discussion you have no idea about is beyond me...

My issue was using that pick on a kid no one had heard of. Not even other recruiters.
Why is this an issue? Whether anyone else knew of him is irrelevant.

By that argument a well known hack is better than an unknown player with greater potential.

The end result is what matters and we will not know that for a number of years yet.

It's about cost. Would you pay $5.00 for a can a coke when they are $2.50?

Because we think his real value is $9.95 and someone probably would have bought him for $2.50 after we had spent our $5 on someone else we didn't rate as highly and we only had $1.20 left in our pocket to buy our next player.

We clearly rated his potential and paid accordingly.

I dont profess to be an expert in such matters but thats not the point you first made anyway. You misleadingly implied we wasted a first round pick on Sier.

The ten kids taken after him for the sake of the exercise were Mitch Hibberd Josh Schoenfield MArcus Adams Tom Cole Riley Bonner Harley Balic
Rhyst MAthison Brandon White MAthew Flyn and Mitch King

Hardly household names either. Did you actually make a call at the time about which player you wanted with pick 32? And how is he going??

(edit....it appears your "not even other recruiters'" claim has been shot down in flames too)

I don't think that was his intention and it's not how I read it. He said we used our first pick, which was 32. Everybody here knows our first pick last year was 32. Why does he have to clarify it further when everybody knows what he's talking about?

P.S. Rhys Matheson was a slider at the time who many were keen on, and he had a very good first year with the Lions, although he's a serial ducker. And Marcus Adams is most certainly a household name.
