I don't think that was his intention and it's not how I read it. He said we used our first pick, which was 32. Everybody here knows our first pick last year was 32. Why does he have to clarify it further when everybody knows what he's talking about?

P.S. Rhys Matheson was a slider at the time who many were keen on, and he had a very good first year with the Lions, although he's a serial ducker. And Marcus Adams is most certainly a household name.
Fair enough but I was also asking TWSherrin who he would have chosen and whether he called it at the time. Even you, a well known expert in the field, only identified two of those ten names I mentioned.

For every slider theres a smokie!!

Not sure why anyone would be expecting a lot from a bottom aged kid taken 30 odd in his first year.

Didn't he break his arm also? If not he certainly had a few other injuries if I recall correctly.

If he can stay fit next season then the club will have a much better understanding of his potential going forward and whether he has a decent chance of forging an AFL career.

Bonner and Baltic were sliders that people were keen on too fwiw. There were 4 or 5 of them last year. Still have no issue myself with Sier at this stage. The club clearly have a high opinion of him if they're willing to hand him Swans number when he hasn't even debuted yet.

McGough was prety good too at a young age. And Terrence Keays. How good was he!!!
Terry had the talent, he enjoyed over refreshing himself and chasing skirt too much though, he got sacked by Richmond for calling Northey a stupid old campaigner, I used to chat with Terry on BigCricket.

Funnily enough, McGough left Collingwood under similar circumstances, dared to question Mick on his game plan, he never played a game for us again, which was no great loss, dude couldn't kick for shit.

Correct. imo drafting him at 32 was a massive reach.

Based on no evidence? I thought he played last year and wasn't even VFL standard.

Lets compare him to Kirby shall we? who excelled at that level at a similar age.
Apologies, you clearly watched him closely. Could you please give us a rundown on the weaknesses that will stop him from having an AFL career - something a bit more substantial than Knightmare and Snoopdog didn't have him in their phantom drafts.

Sier is still only 18 (19 in two days time). I'm pretty sure the recruiters said when they chose him that he'd take a while to develop. He's had an injury-interrupted first season, and he came to the club having spent little time in the "traditional pathway" to the AFL. He really deserves to be cut a fair bit of slack under those circumstances.

All of this has been covered over and over with this player. People just need to be a bit patient for once and see how it pans out.

When Anthony Rocca first came into the AFL, he had about 5 efforts a game in him. Leon Davis, likewise. Daisy was miles off in terms of endurance, so was Swan. It might take a few years, but if he does the work he'll get there in terms of endurance. I've got no idea about the other aspects of the game.

I'm predicting how this pans out, and it doesn't pan well.
