Preuss won't be going anywhere.

Is also a fan favourite amongst many as a cult hero. No doubt the club knows that too.

Kicked 4 against Hawks in the JLT (was a left foot snap one of them by memory) and with another 5 years of development I could see him doing that in the AFL. Ruckman that gets on the end of a few is very good value.

Sam McClure has NFI. Just another potshot at North.

I only remember him tearing us a new one early on in the season and kneeing Jackson Thurlow in the back
A McEvoy/Mumford hybrid type ruck I guess is the best way to describe him. He has a way to go yet.

What about Kennedy from GWS plus a 3rd rounder?

Devon Smith?
Kennedy doesn't offer North much more than what we have in terms of developing mid/forwards and Smith is the icing, not the answer to north's midfield woes. I wouldn't be keen on dealing with gws on this matter.

(I thought there was already a thread on Preuss, but if there is, I can't find it)

SEN this morning suggested that North have decided to stick by Goldstein and back him in to recapture his best form, and would be prepared to entertain offers for Preuss. The two main suitors listed were the Bulldogs and Brisbane, possibly depending on whichever of the two clubs Stefan Martin is at in 2018.

What would he be worth to either team, and would North be making the right call in backing Goldstein/Daw over Preuss?

Not many North fans will like this, but the most logical combination is Goldstein/Brown/Extra midfielder.

However, there's no point in trading him for some late 2nd/3rd round pick. He would require pick upgrades and/or a best 22 player.

The funny thing with Preuss is the ruck market is fairly shallow.

Adelaide - Jacobs currently, would have to wait
Brisbane - definitely possibly
Carlton - Kreuzer
Collingwood - Grundy&Cox
Essendon - Leuey&TBC
Fremantle - Sandi&Darcy
Geelong - Smith&Blicavs
GC - Witts&Nicholls
GWS - Mumford&Lobb
Hawthorn - McEvoy&Ceglar
Melbourne - Gawn
Port - Ryder&Lobb
Richmond - Nank
St Kilda - Longer&Hickey
Sydney - Naismith
Western Bulldogs - English
West Coast - Naitanui&Lycett

Dogs and Brisbane are the obvious. But English would be a wrinkle - you are sinking a fair bit into young rucks as a result

Port need another ruck to support Ryder and may even consider their 1st which is 11 or 12.

Can Preuss play forward effectively?

What would Pruess be worth trade wise? More interested to hear from other club supporters
I have heard a couple of no substance whispers about 'bris being interested' given circumstances. And it makes sense with the background info.

Technically given his position and what he has shown i would think mid-early 2nd is his value. But the hype he has developed in limited exposure will increase that slighty to potentially a late first dependant on change.

That changes again if he wants out. But it doesn't seem like thats exactly the case. Just wants more opportunity

Can't see the logic, Goldy won't be there for your next tilt and Majak is not going to be taking no1 ruck mantle...

He is a ruckman.

Most teams dont have a good ruck.

Rucks are not all that hard to find.

If your rebuilding.. and someone gives you a good pick. Sometimes its worth considering.

Braydon Preuss - 206cm 107 kg - 22 years old - Contracted till end of 2018
Majak Daw - 195cm 97kg - 26 years old - Contracted till end of 2019
Todd Goldstein - 201cm 103kg - 29 years old - Contracted till end of 2019

With North Melbourne rebuilding their list why keep Goldstein who has 3-4 years of football left at best versus Preuss who has 10+ years of footy potentially.
Too bad no one will take Daw off their hands, how he is contracted till 2019 is astounding.
Maj on peanuts....
You can have Goldy for a bag of cheese twisties and a can of coke....seriously. But his salary you also must pay for.

blokes who play most of the season in the twos are not worth a great deal .. with that logic a pick in the range of 30 -45 should get the deal done for a team if in fact he asks for a trade .
