Honestly until Bennell actually plays I'm just going to pretend like he's not apart of the club. I don't think Bell's statement was strong enough and he won't end up honoring it. Bell in place means he won't have Lyon's friendship tethering him to the club anymore.

I'm guessing they have genuine concerns for his welfare if they just toss him aside

There comes a time where he will have to grow up. We cant keep paying for his lifestyle for the next 30 years just because we are worried for his well being.
