lol shit sorry nickgrant69 just saw your post was from February...carry on  (unless you still want to delist Garland, in which case I'll see you at Light Tower 5 next week)

I was wrong about Garlo he's definently found some form this season

I remember making the call in a number of threads actually.

I thought I had it totally wrong until he started his recent run of 5 or 6 massive games.

Couldn't have hoped from anything more from Maximus - he is the best ruck in the comp outside of Goldstein, in my opinion - and I think I'm pretty good at not being too biased.

A few people on here early season where calling for Gawn to be delisted/traded. I was getting frustrated at peoples impatience with him, ruckmen take time to develop, quite often they will start to show some form after 5-6 years and 30-50 games in the system. Plus Gawn has had 3 major knee operations in his time at the club.

If we were going to stick with Spencil for 8 years (and counting), then we were never going to give up on Gawn so easily.

Clear breakouts: McDonald, Viney, Gawn, Watts, Salem (limited game time, but has demonstrated his importance)
Clear dropoffs: Tyson, Dawes

Slight breakouts: Vince, Pedersen, Garland
Slight dropoffs: N Jones (definitely not playing to his usually consistent high standards, but maybe because he doesn't need to)

That's been our way with ruckman this century. We keep a few long term and usually have one that's considered one of the league's top ruckman.

Unfortunately we've lost decent young ruckman to other teams because of our top guy. Lost Simmonds and Jolly because of White's dominance and lost Martin and Johnson because of Jamar's dominance (although Neeld being a campaigner was more why we lost Martin for peanuts) .

Luckily it didn't happen with Gawn because Jamar's form slump was when Gawn's development took off.

Gawn is an extremely loyal type though, was never going to leave the club even if Jamar continued at his peak. In fact even when he was out of the side Maxy tweeted something about how he hated young players moving clubs for better opportunities, and how they should wait their turn.

Great clubman. Great bloke. Will be elite. Just needs to stop spilling marks in defensive 50 because it's conceding goals every time.

Gawny also supported us growing up. ;)
