Breakout Year

Carltonfc.com.au / 'Mike & Dan' and the Blueseum intended to put together a series on the Breakout Years for 2007. Who would you say had breakout years in 2007?

We were putting together statistics and articles for:

* Kade Simpson, who also had a breakout 2006
* Andrew Carrazzo, enough said
* Brad Fisher

We had Walker in 2006 as well.

Any thoughts / additions?

Fourth year straight where Walker's been favourite for breakout on this board. He already had somewhat of a breakout season in 2006 where he went from being a bit player to being an important player of our side. Having said that, hopefully this is the year where we see him push into the elite bracket that he's capable of reaching.

Id classify that as a breakout year no doubt at all. He was the man we went to when in trouble and had a great year at half back minding smalls and talls. His stats were impressive and I think he came top 5 in the B&F?

Jamison - Full Back is the most valuable player in a team IMHO. The last few years whenever we've been close in a game, we could be dominating play, and then the opposition would just do a long kick inside the 50 where a big FF like Rocca or Gehrig would mark and convert

Setanta O'Hailpin too. If Jamison and Carlos can stop the big forwards in 2008, with our midfield, and Fevola in the forwardline, we'll be very hard to stop. Good defenders are invaluable to a team. Looking at pictures of a bulked-up Jammo at training, and reading how impressive he's been, i really hope, and believe he could play a big role for us in '08 :thumbsu:

Spot on, think most of us believe Walks has the potential and capabilities to be considered one of the elite players in the AFL. He just needs to harness his natural gifts and what he has learn't over the past few years and watch out world. I'm so looking forward to how he attacks this year.
Oh and to hang onto one of those screamers!!!! very nice.

Watching him at training, was very impressed today. There was a group of guys doing only jogging (Fish and Blackers, Harts and Anderson, Ackland, and Walker by himself). All the others were breathing pretty easily after their laps, while Walker ran himself ragged every time. His last lap, was hunched over the rail right in front of me struggling for breath - basically the same thing for each of his last five laps. If his work ethic at training is any guide, he is in for a huge season.

No question over his committment to his fitness... the two area's he really needs to improve are his decision making and disposal.

Get these two right and he will be unstoppable, as per his game against the Power last year.

Not questioning his commitment, but being only my second time to training, I got to see first hand how much harder he worked than the other guys doing laps. Needless to say, was very impressed. If he applies that commitment to the other facets of the game (which I'm sure he does), I'm sure he'll soon get his weaker areas up to scratch.

The "freedom" he will have with Judd in the team, and Stevens back from injury, should see him have a big year. From what I have seen and read, he has been training the house down.

Cue Sublime :p

To be perfectly honest, I wasn't all that impressed with the little I saw of him today. Didn't see much, but what I did seemed a little lazy and not 100%. Granted, everyone is entitled to a bad day, and the previous time I saw him he was super impressive.

They have toned down training the week before the SA trip. This may lead to a drop off in intensity and hence skills.
