No, I'd lay odds he was actually serious even though I know thats hard to believe. Some people are just that stupid mate. :)

Well I thought it was a lame troll, but you could well be right - maybe he is as dumb as s...

Next he might troll the Kangas board - find players Blues want to cull - then offer them up as trade -> say Chambers & Longmuir for one of Moran, Hale or McIntosh......

Hey Sainters,

Just wanted to know whether Brendan Goddard is under contract for next year. Seems like he might be worth us hunting for if he isn't, the idea on our board is pick 19 and houlihan would do just nicely.

Thoughts?

Don't come on a Saints board and insult our intelligence. MORON.

Gee, now you're talking. I'd just about do that if Goddard baulks at a new deal.

We'd certainly ask for your Pick 1, but the above offer isn't the worst I've seen.

Goddard + 27 for 17, Stevens & Simpson/Waite is what we'd probably ask for.

Doubt you'd accept. But worth a thought.
If it were up to me, I wouldn't do the Simpson/Waite bit but I would consider doing the #17, Stevens and Fisher bit.

#17 is an unknown although we would be looking at a ruckman there. Stevens is jaded and I think he wants out. Was a frontrunner for the captaincy before this year and has been overtaken by Lance and Fev. Fisher is the best mark in our side and might be a chance to be reinvented as a half back. Gets the ball, is fearless but his kicking for goal is terrible. Might be able to overcome that because his field kicking is nowhere near as bad as his goalkicking.

We know Stevens is a good player when in a good side. We know Fisher is a great mark and finds the ball. We know that #17 is probably akin to #10 in this years draft.

For our part, Goddard is starting to show signs of reading the play very well as he was originally touted to do, is a good overhead mark, links well and is hard at it.

Fish could be squeezed out of our side as a forward because Kennedy, Waite, Fev and Betts can't really play anywhere else.

Whippersnipper, if you were an opposition supporter on the Blues board, I would have banned you long ago. It's their board man, pull your head in.

Thanks ODN.

Consider this your first and last warning Whippersnipper. Sometimes I think we're too tolerant here.

saw all the st kilda boys out the other night drowning their sorrows. Intresting to note BJ was not there.

Goddard, while he's certainly had a decent year, isn't that good I'd give up all that. Not for a guy that never has an opponent, picks up easy kicks and isn't that hard. We have enough of those in our side already. The very mention of the name "Goodard" produces this obsession and paralysis of the brain amongst Carlton supporters after 2002. When he's name comes up, our supporters just simply need to get hold of a cold spoon and settle down. They think he's something he's not. If we got him that year we may have missed out on Simmo, and I know who I'd want. Fisher, no way, he provides something a different with his marking. Why give him to someone else. Like Stewie Loewe, he can improve his goalkicking. He and Waite can rotate through the midfield or even in defence, if they have to. If Goddard comes through the PSD, terrific, but I don't want to be giving up players or picks for him.

Glad you said that otherwise you would have lost what little credibility you had with me.

You banned me from the Carlton board for getting offended that an offer of a burnt out Lappin and pick 30 something was offensive....

Will acknowlege that Lappin did play some good games this year after a terrible 05 though. Still BJ will be a future captain of the St Kilda football club and a 200 games plus player.

ps. He has re-signed..Badluck guys. Guess you will be back with the same old same old, next year. Losers.

Source? Are you sure it is not resigned?

There is no need to trade anything in order to obtain the services of Goddard. He is out of contract and Carlton will pick him up in the pre season draft. Mark my word, its a done deal

Deej, the kid still wants to come and we have told him we want him.
Deal has been worked out as money is not the issue, etc.. He sees the future.
We need to work it smartly though, so lets hope we don't stuff it up and you can buy the beers.

In lieu of recent announcement by the St Kilda FC, these claims show the credibility of some of the Carlton posters to be somewhat wanting.

Thornton, Fisher at odds with Blues
Stephen Rielly
September 20, 2006

KEY-POSITION Blues Bret Thornton and Brad Fisher are in dispute with Carlton over new deals, with Thornton believed to be the primary target of several clubs who are looking to shore up their defences.

On the day that Carlton president Graham Smorgon announced a board edict forbidding the recruitment of players who are either over 24 or cannot be expected to play at least 100 games for the club, it emerged that the club had a genuine struggle on its hands to retain two of its better young players.

Anthony McConville, manager of both players, said he met club officials last week but got no closer to resolving an impasse that, for Thornton at least, has existed for several months. It is believed Thornton has been offered about $210,000 a season for two years by Carlton but has at least one financially superior three-year offer before him.

"At this stage, we're a long way apart and it's up to Carlton to bridge the gap. That's where it's at," McConville said. "There are two-year deals on the table for both but that's about as much as they've offered. If that's their call, that's their call, but I think the marketplace will make a different call."

:D

Thanks for that Stkildonan. :D

I've got no problems with Blues fans wanting BJ to join their club. He supported them as a kid and he's coming off a career best season with stacks of improvement still to come.

You do have to wonder why people would go to the effort of claiming done deals when they really have no idea.

Now, Fisher or Thornton. I think most would lean towards Fisher but Thornton is a key defender that would thrive at a club where he could be third tall rather than be the #1 key defender. Brett Thornton to St Kilda. It's a done deal.

I note the word "somewhat".

The tools have the guts to come in the day after grant thomas is sacked and look for Goddard for cheap. I am not a violent person - but I was damn pissed off!!!!

I was the one who said he was little to no chance to leave stkilda, or did you miss that?
I also said it wouldn't have surprised me if BJ signed to stkilda for life that day.
The only person with a credibility issue it seems is you.
