Brenden Abbott.
The majority of the OP is a Twitter post mentioning him having an "inside battle". So I fail to see how it isn't completely relevant to discuss this inside battle. Especially given the current climate where MANY footballers have had their careers ended by mental disorders.
Maybe his battle was leaving home and moving states. Could join a WA club

All we know is that he has "inside battles", and that is all we need to know. Speculating what those battles might be is inappropriate.
Mostly because it's all rumour and speculation. Uninformed discussion is a complete waste of time.
So anyone mentiond Abbott should get a Day Ban or longer then?

As someone who has had a decent amount of direct experience with people suffering both depression and bipolar, I'm fairly confident that "inside battles" is code for exactly those disorders. Now, the REASON for the disorder is obviously the true unknown.
Not all depression/bipolar disorder has a traditional "trigger". So the less informed might assume a trigger has caused it. A move interstate away from family? That then combined with a struggle to break into the senior team? Bad breakup with girlfriend/boyfriend?
But in MANY cases it's simply a chemical imbalance that causes it, mostly in bipolar disorder. There isn't necessarily a traditional reason for it. Which is why drugs like Lithium are prescribed for many.
Now with Brenden, it could just be a case of depression at the lower end of the scale. But that part is the part we really don't know about. But I am quite confident the "inside battles" are almost certainly related to depression.
Thanks Doc.
Seriously don't understand what your problem is. Who said I Was a doctor?
Do I call you coach when you give your opinion on all things football? Since you know, you've coached at AFL level for years right? As I've said, without getting too personal, I have a fair amount of very close and direct experience in dealing with people with bipolar/depression. You learn a lot and in the beginning, it's very hard to get your head around stuff.
A discussion about football. That would be great.
Since the old thread is locked.
Abbott confirms he has been going through issues. Says he'll be back.. hope he works through his problems and he returns to the Pies.
Thread isn't about Brenden Abbott's footballing ability. We had a thread on that, it got closed.
Here's the OP since you seem to have forgotten...
My discussion points are infinitely more related to the OP than yours.
Perhaps the OP could add a poll on what type of mental illness Abbott is suffering from.

Perhaps we should be banned from discussing anything anyone might find the slightest bit offensive.Perhaps the OP could add a poll on what type of mental illness Abbott is suffering from.

It would make for a very dull discussion forum, but hey at least it would be politically correct.
