As someone who has had a decent amount of direct experience with people suffering both depression and bipolar, I'm fairly confident that "inside battles" is code for exactly those disorders. Now, the REASON for the disorder is obviously the true unknown.

Not all depression/bipolar disorder has a traditional "trigger". So the less informed might assume a trigger has caused it. A move interstate away from family? That then combined with a struggle to break into the senior team? Bad breakup with girlfriend/boyfriend?

But in MANY cases it's simply a chemical imbalance that causes it, mostly in bipolar disorder. There isn't necessarily a traditional reason for it. Which is why drugs like Lithium are prescribed for many.

Now with Brenden, it could just be a case of depression at the lower end of the scale. But that part is the part we really don't know about. But I am quite confident the "inside battles" are almost certainly related to depression.

Agree with all that, still don't think it warrants discussion unless it's disclosed. Same with Franklin.

I would think something terminal might be a bit worse... or maybe MS or parkinson's disease or the disease that Neil Danniher has got, which is terminal so I suppose that's already covered.

Nice, depression is nothing compared to cancer... well reasoned.

well this sounds like he has not been delisted. Does anyone know if there has been anything suggesting he has? We might be jumping the gun a bit. but maybe i missed something.
Those tweets were back in July.
The club has listed him on the retirement/delisted list. So he has been officially delisted.
Also appears on the AFL delisted list.
However, his player profile remains on the CFC web page, even though they removed all other players who have departed from the club.
Maybe we will re rookie him, if he's good to go?

k thanks for that i missed that info. I hope we relist him, he sounded like he could be a player. I think another club might pick him up of he opts for the draft though

Why would some other team Rookie Him when he has Depression?

He went missing because of his personal problem and club could not contact him.
They had no choice because they did not know where he was.

Why would we delist him to then re-rookie him?

U would think if we delisted him that is it.

If he hasn't been in contact I guess we had to keep his list spot open. If he gets back in contact, we might be prepared to take him on if the rookie draft has no alternative gems.

If the deadline arrived before we could nut out a contract with him he'd simply have to be delisted. Maybe the fact that he's still on the website is suggestive that we'll re-rookie him after getting back into contact with him. It may also reflect the delay in the decision having to be made.

Mostly because it's all rumour and speculation. Uninformed discussion is a complete waste of time.
Whilst you make a correct point,

You do realise you could say the above on just about everything on bigfooty o_O

Speculating about someone's mental health is a little different to speculating about the game plan.

Sure, mental illness can be a personal thing ...

... But Brenden has chosen to put some implied stuff out in the public domain.

The wonderful thing when people do that is it de-stigmatises the issue. It provides inspiration for those who might be going through something similar to do something about it.

Think about what this thread might have looked like 5, 10, 20 years ago. People would be suggesting that Brenden be sent to the 'funny farm'. And delisted for being an embarrassment. This thread would be under siege from opposition trolls having a crack at him.

There is a bit of conflict in this thread - but it all seems to be about how best to support him.
Agree 76 best post of the thread. Only person saying we shouldn't talk about it is Jmac but I wouldn't expect him to reply to your post because you are a lot more intelligent than him.

I said it was pointless to speculate about what the actual condition is, and for the record I agree that 76 is more intelligent than me.
