I don't think you understand the use of the term...

Bolton started the rebuild when he got the role. That is ground zero. By this point in time we'd really be hoping to see signs of transition.

We are 50 games into the '66 game rebuild' that the club mentioned. To only win a couple of games this year would be a failure. Amazing how apologetic we have become.

Deep criticism only seems welcome after we make changes and never before.
I am well aware of the use of ground zero.

SOS and Bolton were engaged, not because we were at ground zero, but to have the strength to lead us on the 66 game rebuild, to a new starting point, ground zero

If people had different expectations, that's another conversation all together

To me the 66 game rebuild means we’ll be ready to compete better by 2019 not ready to contest a flag

Which is still realistic we will have games into our young g7ns and snag an FA or two

Am I right ?
and every single part of this gets torn to shreds if the club allows external dissent - particularly by the likes of that festering tumor elliot - to destabilize the rock solid focus and direction we have chosen to take

It's actually T minus 66 games. Ground zero is actually Round One 2019 :)

What would you do/have done differently?
There are a myriad of things, but I am no expert. That sort of discussion is almost always mocked and dismissed here so don't know why I would bother. Just look at the responses.

Walking it back to the whole 66 game rebuild premise, does anyone really expect us to be a remote chance at finals next year?
If not, the club has clearly underestimated the process.

This would be a frank conversation on reddit about my NBA team, but here you automatically become an enemy. It's incredibly frustrating.

I've never heard it used in this regard in all my years in the corporate world. Ground zero is the starting point, not the stage where you begin reaping the rewards of your work....

Fair to be annoyed/frustrated at the current state of the club and the product displayed. It would be unusual and slightly concerning to enjoy being decimated weekly.

Humanity is wanting to bask in the glory of one's success but not willing to go through the daily grind to get there. It's normal, very few of us enjoy expending the energy required to master a craft; human nature, we are built to conserve energy.

Which is why I'm always interested to hear/read the takes of those unhappy with the current situation.

Most of the time it's because people are extremely poorly informed and have a superficial understanding of our direction (i.e. the Facebook crowd). I definitely don't sense that with you, thankfully. Then you have the middle-aged/elderly crowd from another era who only know one way (the outdated method), and utilise common phrases such as, 'accepting mediocrity'. I don't blame them, habits are tough to break. Again, that's human nature.

What we are currently going through goes against, those words again: human nature; instant gratification, energy conservation, impulsive decision-making bereft of complex thought, etc.

Can we resist those impulses, engage our frontal cortices and be patient? It's tough.

Why?

What is the difference between 2/3/4/5/6 wins this year?

Long term the difference is negligible.

Judge whether the rebuild has been a failure, at the end of the rebuild. No point doing it any sooner.

25 years plus Military. Ground Zero is always when the action starts. Anything prior is T minus.............

We need to give Bolton five years to see what the SOS + Bolton combo can do. But excuses after that will wear thin would like to see massive improvement as the class of 15 would have 50 games under their belt and would hope a couple of uncontracted/FA player would join the club and of course Docherty will be like a new A grade recruit. In other words this is the third year we are giving the SOS + Bolton combo a free swing to rebuild the list.. five years is enough and hope they don't mess it up as I will not be one of the people to say "give it time" then.

Fair

Five years time we should be pushing the 8...Bolton has just started his third year...as hard as it is we have to continue down this track .. but agree 5 years

Chronic injuries have not held our light on list at the moment

Bottom line is whingeing and complaints are all outside BS.

Club is happy with direction and will be sticking with it. Kids are developing well and it's a happy group. Bolton doing a great job.

42 List changes in less than 2 and half years. Injury list has been a bigger issue this year than expected.

This year will bring in some more young talent and some top level senior bodies. 2018 was always going to be the toughest as list is at its youngest.

If anyone doubts this (or seems to have a short term memory) go and listen to Judds explanation on FC 2 weeks ago then Boltons interview just after. He's on the board and personally I'm glad he is.

Personally I prepared for 3 years(66 games) of readying the foundation to establish the growth from 2019 onwards.
By golly its a hurtin at the moment but if by mid 2019 there hasn't been some sort of improvement, I'll be sooking it up too.
Go Bolts, SOS, heck even MLG and GO U NAFFIN BLUES!!!
I'll just bury my head in the sand until 2019........but I'll still be turning up like every other Carlton mug to support my club, the Carlton Blues!!

And this is where I take issue. Absolutely regressive line of thought. Complaints based in reality have merit.

You're going back to 'we are Carlton, **** the rest'
Don't agree. The club is in the best position to know whether we're hitting our hurdles... now is not the time to do anything but stay the course.
