Re: Club Comes Calling After Fev

I recon its Collingwood. Walshy contacted Ricky and asked about Fev....I recon. Geelong, don't think so. Carlton, definitely not. Hawks, Buddy and Roughy. No other real, serious contenders for next year. Gotta be Collingwood.

Melbourne seem like the obvious candidate to me. They've made no secret about their desire to grab an established KPF to take the heat off a few younger blokes.

That said, I'm seriously hoping it is us. We've got a great system in place, I'd have the utmost faith in the club ensuring he stayed in line. I don't think we've got a lot to lose either. People pot Collingwood constantly, regardless of what we actually do. If he falls off the wagon, meh, we cut him and it's water off the duck's back. It's not like we are in a fragile state at the moment or anything, the club is the strongest and most united it has been in a long while. A Fevola controversy wouldn't come anywhere near derailing us.

And people over exaggerate the 'influence on the youngsters' thing. Like I said, we've got a great system in place, strong leaders and top notch coaching staff. Fevola would get pulled into line pretty quickly. Plus, I think he genuinely wants to make amends, I'm confident he is/could be back on the right track.

Watching Dawes flail about on GF day makes me want this all the more. I admire his loyalty and selflessness, but he can't cut the mustard against decent opposition. Getting the 3rd best defender each week would be a god send for him.

Re: Club Comes Calling After Fev

We did go after him before he ended up in Brisbane.
We didn't get him because Carlton was asking too much from us and in general did not want to deal with us. thank God !
This time the cost is next to nothing.
Doubt we would be going for him, but you never know.
Yes, he is a tool.
Yes, he can also play football and was one of the most dangerous forwards in the game.
Worth a punt from some club.
I reckon he would be best suited at Bulldogs because they need a power forward but I think they also have said "NO".

Re: Club Comes Calling After Fev

I WOULD BE surprised if ANYONE got him lol
Same here, I'll be shocked if he is picked up.

One club has contacted his management, and even then it was only a list management employee, not even a coach or a head of recruitment.

And even Olarenshaw said the "list manager said he'd take that information to the coach" (or words to that effect), well I'll give you two guesses to figure out what the coach said when the list manager bought up Fev's name.

Re: Club Comes Calling After Fev

omg!! Fev would be perfect for us!!

I can just see the fantastic training over the break. Heaps of pics of Fev in Arizona bonding with the boys!!! Hopefully no stories about sidetrips to Vegas to get stoned and pissed.... but Fev wouldnt be that stupid...

And then the season...Fev kicking a few....breaking down in a few games. Copping it from the bigfooty masses. Bucks copping more pressure.

Fev finding it increasingly more difficult to get fit for games...Rumours of partys at Crown. A few bets here and there. Found in a back lane behind Crown with his jocks in his mouth... Bucks saying he deserves another chance...

Team trying to focus on getting a spot in the eight. Players getting interviewed daily on the latest Fev exploit. Rumours of Alan Didak at a party.

Pendles announces that he is going to leave contract negotiations to the end of the season. Rumours that GWS has snared their man. Fev gets a "comeback" game against Carlton and gets reported for swinging punches at the Carlton defenders and they take up their positions to start the game. Pie players look the other way...

Bucks makes statement that Fev won't play again until he's 100% fit. Leigh Matthews questions Bucks decision to recruit Fev. Every man and his dog are posting on bigfooty saying that they told the world that Bucks would never be a good coach and pleading with Eddie to pay Mick to return to the club.

Oh yes pleassssssssse!!!...Please recruit Fev. He will be fantastic for the club!!!!!!!!!!

Bang on the money, 110%, couldn't be more accurate with a dart.
I agree with every word you have said, lets just hope the club does too. I don't want to be copping Fev gags from every brain dead moron at every pub between March and September.

Re: Club Comes Calling After Fev

Its hard to imagine what Maguire would have in common with Fevola as to their friendship.

I think Eddie gets man crushes on blokes who can play the game.

Fevola going to Collingwood would have him playing reserves unless Cloke or Dawes went down. Being an insurance policy wouldnt be too appealing.

Its interesting though the divide amongst all club supporters as to getting him.

I tend to agree with this.
I also think there is a good chance his manager made it up to create interest.

Re: Club Comes Calling After Fev

I read markfs' post and think yep, agree 100%

Jesus Baulks posts something 100% the opposite, I read it and think yep, agree 100%

Interesting dilemma.

Today, I found a small part of me just wondering, perhaps hoping, it may be us, that enquired about him ( leaving Dawes to take the Leroy role)

Part of me thinks he wouldn't **** up again, but the other part of me knows he's a gambling and alcohol addict, and addicts always **** up.

I think the overriding thing though, as markfs alludes to, is that he'd always be in the limelight and it would become a terrible overall distraction.

Also, given it would be such a risk, and if it did **** up, it would be such an obvious mistake in everyone's wonderfully accurate hindsight, that Buck's as a novice coach really wouldn't want that on his first season CV.

Re: Club Comes Calling After Fev

Much as his personality terriifies me, the idea of Fev at FF, Cloke at CHF and Dawes as Leroy is amazing.

NO ONE could stop them

Re: Club Comes Calling After Fev

Eddie would have close to zero in making decisions on the list management. If we do pick up Fev, it wouldn't be due to Eddie

Re: Club Comes Calling After Fev

I just went through the media on this. Ricky Olarenshaw said a club called him to ask a few questions about Fev and it was a club he didn't expect being based in Melbourne. That's it. One list manager asked how he was going. Then Fev said he'd go on a base salary to get drafted again.

I'd say he has no chance of being drafted.

Re: Club Comes Calling After Fev

I'm sure the Bulldogs have someone acting as a list manager.
Considering that they've already sent Sam Reid to the Giants, and they're working on trading Josh Hill to West Coast, there's certainly someone in charge of their list right now.

Re: Club Comes Calling After Fev

looked so fat and slow in his last year at Brisbane, i remember a game were he didn't chase his opponent being highlighted. fat, slow and old.
He tore up the vfl...so what! even John McCarthy does that

Re: Club Comes Calling After Fev

fev to pie land will make me a happy chappy! LOL

Just imagine Fev at FF kicking a bag against the blues, then kicking one from the boundary in the last quarter to put us up by even more then looking at the crowd and doing one of his little celebrations! Oh god! Words can not describe how much i want him at pies! If anyone can turn him it'll be bucks!!!!

Re: Club Comes Calling After Fev

Just tweeted

Fevola tweet said:
Thanks to everyone for there kind comments today hopefully it all works out and I'm back kicking goals on the G next year #flagtobewon

Team that plays mostly on the G and in contention for a flag? hmm

HS in their tweets have said that North and StKilda have told them they are NOT interested.

AS IF!

Carlton would never be ahead in the last quarter ;)

Re: Club Comes Calling After Fev

Why not?!The guy can kick goal's out of his ****.........Will play on the minimum wage, what do we have to lose?

It's a huge risk and we'd potentially have a lot to lose ... read markfs' post a page or so back for a snapshot

Reckon 5% chance of a really successful outcome
20% chance of dreadful outcome
80% chance of meh outcome ( ie he plays reserves, keeps his nose reasonably clean, doesn't reach any great heights at all)
