It's understood North Melbourne, Carlton, Essendon and the Gold Coast are chasing Rischitelli, while the Blues, Bombers and the Suns are after Brennan.

What are everyones thoughts of recruiting Brennan, I highly doubt he would come to the Blues as I think GC would throw everything at him. Would love to have him at Visy Park, would be a perfect swingman at both ends, plenty of salary cap room.

Thoughts.

I'd like to get Rischitelli depending on the cost. Brennan would cost far, far too much for it to be worth it as he really wouldn't give us any of the missing vital ingredients we need to go all the way. Unless he, Brennan, was willing to go out of contract and set a price too high for anybody to match. Even then the Suns would draft him before us unless they got two or three stars at massively inflated prices and had to be stringent on the rest of their list.

I wonder how long and for what measure the GC's salary cap bonus is. Unless it's for a super long time they'll be looking at losing a few of their key young players after their third, fourth or fifth season.

Why would Rischitelli decide to come to the CFC when he turned us down less than a year ago?

We don't need him anyway. We need key position players, especially defenders.

I get the sense with GC17 and GWS coming on board we're going to ditch the youth policy for two years and get some mature top-up players.

We have lots of young kida at the moment, and end of season we're going to see players such as Wiggins, maybe Thornton and Hadley gone.

Topping up for some mid-age decent players may be a good move... in fact Rischitelli would be an awesome get.... Judd, Murphy, Rischitelli, Simpson, Lucas, McClean would be a pretty nice top 6 midfield.

Was it definetly Rischitelli who knocked back the deal last year or was it Bradshaw? If it was him then i highly doubt he would be willing to come to us now, but maybe with the way Voss has gone about things he has thought about it and would come our way.

Your comments are spot on, pretty sure that we have two options to improve our list, option one is as you have suggested we will actively trade players/picks focusing on identifying weaknesses on our list which as we know there are clearly quite a few.
The fact also that we have significant space in our salary cap adds further substance to this being the likely direction.
Option 2 is to trade for top 10 draft picks by adding further young quality to our list, GC 17 or pick 4 from West Coast, have the picks, are we willing to give us anything attractive enough to obtain 1.

With our picks being devalved this year, l can see us trading at least one of our first two to obtain a player that will address at least one of our weaknesses.

I don't particularly want Brennan - his best is outstanding but he's as inconsistent as hell, and his price would be way too large.

Rischitelli is an interesting one. He's just an OK footballer that this year in particular is standing out amongst a big pile of shit, but one thing he does do particularly well is block for his team mates, which is something we have been lacking.

If he came reasonably cheap I'd certainly be interested but he's likely to win their B+F so I can't see that happening.

We dont need Rischitelli, we need a key defender. i really home we dont pick up these 2 players.

No we dont just ask WH and the majority of these jumper kniting supporters on this forum.

Austin, jamo, bower would struggle with KPF from under 18's.

If these are our key defenders, the lock will never get opened.

Don't take too much notice of the "It is understood..." footy tabloid pseudo-sources

Rischitelli doesn't have enough talent to get a spot on our list and Brennan (A) Will never leave Qld and (B) Is only after $ and doesn't care about team success. Hence, hell go to GC17. The other Clubs are being used by his management to bid up his price. Nothing more. His management did this last time as well.

:)

Would depend on the reason he turned us down in the first place yeah? He only had one year left on his contract and may have already known he was leaving Brisbane at the end of it.

Could well have figured that the best chance he had for a juicier contract was to not make any move, put in a good year and see what gets thrown around come seasons end. Might have had nothing at all to do with Carlton.

not rischitelli but brennan would be nice..having both him and waite in a team would be very handy. thorntan in the deal would be too good to be true.

We might need a KP defender, but we certainly do need more depth in our midfield. We still don't bat deep enough in our midfield, with a big drop from Judd & Murphy down to our next group of midfielders.

A fit McLean would add to that depth, as would having Gibbs in there, but that would give us at best 4 quality midfielders, where we need at least half a dozen mature bodied midfielders to match the rotations that Geelong, Collingwood, St Kilda & the Bulldogs are able to use during a game.

I would be looking into Josh Drummond if his knee is ok, his class off half back is what we need and this would allow Gibbs to go into the midfield to give decent delivery into our forward line that we need.

Rischitelli will never go to Carlton you can bookmark that but Brennan may.Rischitelli wasn't happy about the Airport thing and being traded.

Alistair Lynch let it slip last night that Rischitelli would be going to GC as he got in first(heads of Agreement)...

When quized about Brennan, he went very quiet and changed the subject...

If Brennan is available, we will chase him hard and will have the bargaining power once we trade one of our ruckman/midfielders...

would love to land Brennan......at the right price. Just feel he could improve a great deal by being played consistently in the one position. He gets thrown around all over the place at the moment

Would love Brennan at Carlton, he has an X factor and the ability to win a game, which we havent got a lot of. Juddy is a match winner and the rest of our guns are consistent which is a necessity as well. Brennan will compliment the consistent guns by giving them spark with his unpredictability. Would love him to just float around half forward with Waite.

Brennan would be a good get in his own right but knowing us it would be a catch-of-the-year type situation. What we'll have left will be more versatile but unremarkable 188-190 type players. Maybe, if we're 'lucky' we'll nab a slow KPP or two. We'll try and turn Brennan into a CHB where his 'freak' ability will be lessened. Jeez, I often wonder where some clubs get their players from, but then I realise that other clubs are prepared to really turn their list over and replace them with quality and variety.

Whenever we make one of these trades, the downside is that they come with an additional two or three players on the bottom end of the drafting spectrum. The best recruiter in the world can’t do much in those situations, especially one that takes things cautiously. :(

Essendon were into Brennan last year and it seemed a possibility. The only thing stopping it from happening is waiting to see if Rischitelli goes to GC therefore the only player they can steal from Brisbane, or a decent trade offer for one of them from GC or potentially the form of Essendon this year. If the Bombers land a big name coach, I can see Brennan going there for sure.

Spot on! Plus I think Brennan is a huge lair who has been mimicking Kouta since he started playing footy i.e holding footy with one hand.Doesnt impress me at all.
Now Josh Drummond hmmm.......
