Gee its hard to change a first impression of BF isn't it? Brennan has developed a good level of consistency to his game over the past three years. Still suffers (as had Waite) from being thrown around too much, but such is the life of a utility.

Would be a great get, but I think you'll find linking any out of contract player to Carlton or Essendon is just par for the course. As a hypothetical whatever we would have expected for Waite at the same stage in his career would probaby be pretty close to what we would need to give for Brennan.

If we took the blinkers off, who is better, waite or brennan?

I would love Brennan at the club. He would fit in nicely down back or forward...
We have plenty of spare $....I say go for it!

We need to get a gun this offseason or next, I'm not convinced Brennan is the man to break the piggy bank for.

Good question. Despite the calls of incocnsistency Brennan has averaged more than 18 touches, six marks and five tackles over the last three years. Waite averages similar disposals, slightly more marks, and less than three tackles, but obviously kicks more goals being posted up forward more often.

I don't think you could make an argument for one being clearly better than the other. Would be interesing if two such players could work in the one team.

I think they're at a very similar standard. Both in the top group of players at their club. Both have the ability to tear games apart, both go missing a little.

I would love to have Brennan at Carlton but the only thing is I'm not sure where he would play. He's been pretty much a pure midfielder for a few years now so I can't see him slotting in at CHB. He would be a great 3rd tall forward or back but I think that's what Bower will develop into.

I would be for getting Brennan, but obviously at the right price, he is versatile and would be handy down back or up forward or in the midfield if required, he is inconsistent but a change of club might bring the best out of him as it does for a lot of players, but if he is demanding 2mill over 3yrs as is being reported, then we will pass thanks

This could be the first time we have consensus between the 5 supporter sub groups on this board...on a half decent player - wow!

What five groups you ask...well there is...
  • The Devout superbly led by the soon to be 40YBlue...their mantra...never question the club on anything EVER and please keep your head in the sand at all times for your own safety :D
  • The Unwashed led by man city blues (plus his 5 new accounts) and his lieutenant Big Red! Their mantra is..."i really want to see the blues fail so i can prove a point"
  • The Nepotists led by the General and Splendini and quite a few very loud YES men! Their mantra "into the trenches, we'll discuss specifics later" :D
  • The Crazies led by the one and only Starchamber and his successor Parrot. This group of two defy logic and ultimately proves weed every hour on the hour will eventually erode all normal thought!
  • The Tall Poppies those mischievious supporters believe a tall will help the blues more than a mid! They tend to spend their entire BF life working out the dizzying conundrum of best available vs needs!
Could the stars align on this one topic!

Which one do you belong to?

If nothing else, I love that our Footy Dept. seems to be in the ear of any decent player or coach who is coming out of contract....

Brennan has really improved his consistency over the past couple of years and is easily one of Brisbanes best players. I would love to have him at the Blues but once again, I dare say the asking price would be way too high.

Brennan would be fine as a tall HFF playing into the midfield allowing Waite to go back and play either on a tall or that lovely zoning game. Is inconsistent, but it doesn't help when your side throws you around to every possible position trying to fix all their problems.

Would cost WAY TOO MUCH however, so it is a no.

I dont think he would fit in, we are after a strong FB/CHB. He would just stop the development of another young rebounding halfback.

Pretty much the way I see it also, but hey we could be wrong.
Sooner invest time into Davies for our needs down back for that role, as we are still really short of a tie me down CHB. :D

I have a foot in all five camps.
