Shit comments from Harvey, Rawlings and backed up from Petrie this morning. The finger should be pointed at the pathetic performance given from the leadership group. Rawlings was especially embarrassing and had no right to single out the younger guys.

I've got no problems with it, I'd love Pavlich to come out and put the pressure on Johnson.
Thing is Hansen is dumber than a door knob and it's only the Obstacle that's been saying he's the new Johno Brown.

A spray for Hansen could work, but he doesn't have a role and only a shitful midget forward coach.

Hansen needs a consistent role that will gain momentum over time.

He'll take a few years to mature as he's as dopey as they get as well as a defender.

Boomer is just frustrated after the massive call to duty the coach put on the side.

The loss reflects very badly on the coaches but Scott is a media darling and has some credits in the bank.

Is early days, and it may take the hard way to learn how to build a forward line and utilize the midfield to its capabilities.

If these top 4 beltings continue surely they will realise that our forward line has never looked like beating a top team since Lindsay Thomas has been in the forward line.

north's biggest problem is that harvey is still playing

he's gone on 1 year too long

Not great. Could have a positive effect and kick them into gear or could cause a rift. Should probably be kept inside the club...

As much as I love Boomer, thats pretty poor.

Don't hear Hansen asking when Boomer will handle a tag. Did any young teammates single Boomer out just last week when he was woeful?

Pavlich rarely, if ever, plays a poor game. Harvey plays a few each season. I can't believe I'm saying this, but Robbo actually made an excellent point on Gameday, saying that the middle-aged (by AFL standards) North players could just as easily say the same thing about Edwards, Petrie, Harvey, Rawlings, Firrito etc. and ask why they're not as good as the top tier players at Collingwood, Western Bulldogs, Geelong and St Kilda. Because they're not, Harvey's kidding himself if he thinks they are and that's at least as big a problem as their kids not taking the next step.

Why single out Wright though? The bloke's played about 25 games and is still under 21. Ridiculous to suggest he should be tearing it up at this stage. Hansen maybe but he was getting nothing from his midfielders.

Why single out anyone in fact when the team all round played so poorly, next to no Kangaroos player won their position on the ground. Boomer himself hasn't set the world on fire the last few weeks either. The whole team needs to lift.

Do North fans prefer Hansen in the forward or back line?

Because I remember around draft time they were hyping up the future contests between Gumby and Hansen.

He is of more value as a forward imo, he just needs a proper set shot routine and for the club to focus on skill development more than physical development.

He is a pretty good mark, but he has no confidence when taking a shot on goal, which under pressure lets him down. That has to be addressed now or he is finished as a forward option.

The more I think about it, the happier I am that Lachy Hansen was made publicly accountable. He's one of those guys who I reckon the coaches get on week in week out behind closed doors to lift his game. At least now the pressure is on, and everyone will be watching.

Given Harvey's recent form however, I dont think he has any right to be potting players on radio. He has been pathetic the last two weeks.

Round 1:
Wright 0 goals 4 goal assists
Harvey 1 goal 1 goal assist

Round 2:
Wright 1 goal 1 goal assist
Harvey 0 goals 0 goal assists

At present it is both with 1 goal kicked and Wright leading 5 goal assists to 1. Wright has played 26 games, Harvey 303. Wright is 20 years old. Was daisy a star at 20 when the senior players at Collingwood weren't performing?

I think Wright would have reason to be disappointed with Boomers comments.

Hansen is 22 years old and has had to grow into his frame, was fairly light as a junior, like a lot of lighter KPP will probably peak later rather than sooner.

Petrie, Rawlings, Boomer and the other senior players didn't lead by example this week, he should cop the criticism on the chin rather than pass the buck onto someone like Wright.

You're missing his point, and that is that to go forward North need to be less reliant on guys like him and Rawlings having a good or bad game, and more focused on the younger guys stepping up.

He is spot on.

He is a half forward, in that position you are pretty much dependant on the guys in the back and the midfield not getting bent over and *******ed to have more of an impact on the game.

Rawlings gave Collingwood something like 7 scoring opportunities and the pies got 14 of their 21 goals from our turnovers. That isn't Wright's fault.

Sam Wright isn't someone I would mention, but regardless, you still do not get it. Harvey and Rawlings performance yesterday are irrelevant to what Boomer is saying.

The comments would've had merit if he called out Daniel Wells, there is a guy who has been in cruise control for nearly 8 years. Berating two young, inexperienced blokes is just piss poor from a captain. Sam Wright doesn't even fit the age group he specified.

No idea what he hopes to achieve venting this sort of thing in public.

I think this has more to do with the group as a whole.
Leading up to this week the team would have been pretty pumped up to put in a good showing. That didn happen. And since Wrighty and Lachy have been some of our better youngsters in recent times i think Boomers sending a message out that no one is spared.
Anyway weve got the bye so i look forward to how we go against the Dockers in a fortnight.

The fact there's a 5 foot nothing outside player captaining the club goes a way to explain the inherent mediocrity.

Would have made Petrie Captain at the time but Harvey did deserve it and is a champion.

Harvey must be feeling the heat as the way things are going with the sides poor coaching and structures he wont be able to finish his career in a forward pocket kicking 40 goals for the next 2 years.

When Harvey's gone and if Wells keeps failing to deliver and Thomas stays at the club, just can't see the club being more than top 4 anymore.

How much say the assistant coaches have is the question. I'm hoping Scott is the face and the three amigos do all the mediocrity building to fail. Otherwise North are in a bit of bother.

Makes the context of his comments even worse, IMO.

A fortnight is a long time to leave his comments festering away with no way for the players to prove themselves.

I absolutely hate the way he went about putting a rocket up his players.

The worst part of it all was acting like he has been performing to an acceptable level so far this season and deflecting the attention onto two well respected younger blokes.

Your older blokes are the ones you expect to help lift a younger side over a more experienced opponent. He and Rawlings especially let the team down.

Boomer's performances are undeniably relevant to his statement, insofar as he isn't exempt from criticism himself.

Would like to see Hansen criticise Boomer's ability to lead his team under a heavy tag or in high pressure situations.

It means more pressure. AFL isnt a walk in the park. If they wanna **** around they can go play for Williamstown.
Id rather they cop the rocket and dwell on it for 2 weeks.
Its bettercause if they played next week did alright then did shit the week after the rocket meant nothing.
However i think some serious down time and bonding over the net 2 weeks might hold us in stead for the rest of the year.

There was something on a previous board about last week's WCE vs Nth game, about how Harvey is almost above criticism given what he's done in his career so far.

He played poorly in round 1, fair enough, everyone has bad games. Watching the replay of yesterday's game, I don't think he was that good even though he had a lot of possessions. A lot of missed shots and generally bad link up play with team mates.

If he kept it in house, like during their next team meeting or something, that's fine. But to come out in the open media, that was low, especially naming individual players who were far from the worst going around. Even saying stuff like the 21 - 25 year olds should improve is pretty low - he's basically pointing out that he's one of the experienced players, and it's not his fault that they lost - that is BAD leadership.
Imagine if your team lead/manager at work singled you out in front of the whole company for not performing while removing any responsibility from himself when he hasn't really done his job either.....

But why didn't he take the criticism himself? He duly deserved it.

Ultimate sign of weakness.

He could've had a better impact doing it behind closed doors, but let his pride get in the way when he was challenged on his sub par performances, and your team may well suffer for it.

I don't think they will, but Harvey criticising others for not stepping up when needed is incredibly hypocritical based on the start of the season. With the injuries your team has sustained, he and the other senior players need to step up should they want to make finals.
