Last 20 seconds of the interview indeed say that.

"Don't expect another performance like that from us because those guys either won't be in the team or the senior guys will go to the coach and tell him that we don't want them in the team"

By themselves that comment and the comment earlier about Wright and Hanson are perhaps understandable.

Together it's pretty bad.

I would have a thought a 5 foot nothing player would have to work harder on his game than most.

I imagine Brent feels the same way ;)
Harvey cops a lot of smart arse from team mates about being a short arse.

Is good he's put some sort of line in the sand as being such a humble, easy going fella, he wouldn't demand the respect or fear he should from the other little shits that have ruled the roost at North for a while.

Was in the heat of the moment after the game and it's becoming obvious that there's something majorly wrong with the coaching or the selected side.

Side needs a shake up and Harvey has gone some way to doing that.

Pity the main reason is the forward set ups and rotations through there.

Very disappointed by these comments... can only hope it's orchestrated to get a result against Freo in our next game... we sure as hell need it.

Will his teammates? It's not us forum dwellers he should be worried about, it's the other 21 blokes he has to run onto the field with, the ones he said he'd go and tell the coach he doesn't want to play with.

I don't think the players hold back when it comes to peer review after games, it is probably one of the rare times you hear what is honestly said between players in the public forum. I agree it should be kept in-house and he would probably regret making those comments now.

I believe he was answering questions about team performance when the reporters blamed the senior players for not playing well and he was highlighting that we didn't get the contribution from the younger guys that say Collingwood has had from the same drafts and too much is put on our senior players and that the younger players have to start carrying more of the burden.

I just don't think he expressed it that well. We only have a handful of senior players left, the younger players have to stand up more which I do agree with, but it shouldn't excuse a poor performance by the senior players.

These are types of things that can create rifts in the playing group you just dont say this sort of stuff on public air.

I couldnt imagine Chris Judd, Nick Maxwell or Jono Brown turning around and giving out names of young players under performing.

Couldnt imagine it.

jeebus - just listened to that - incredible divisive

have no issue with him naming names - but if your senior players have had a poor game, to turn around and blame the younger guys is a bit rich

personally think those comments should come from the coach - not the captain

boomer himself said he wanted to hide on the field when they were getting beaten all over the field - what sort of thing is that to say by a captain?

After bagging younger players he then had the audacity to defend Edwards who is the poorest excuse of a footballer and then gets schooled by getting told he had a hand ful of possessions and a tackle.

Yeah. It's not so much him placing the blame, it's doing it while trying to let himself and his mates who were also shocking off the hook. He's the captain and he played like shit he should be taking as much responsibility for the loss as any of their young guys, no matter how many credits he has saved up.

Yer, I always had a small soft spot for Boomer as a player but not quite sure now as a Captain... I know its one incident but words in the media can be so damaging.

I dont think the Senior players are going to mind and be effected as much by a public lashing than a younger player who really might take it to heart.

I wouldve thought a Captain takes the younger kids under his wing abit instead of protecting the older group.

He might have unknowingly drawn a divide between the senior group and the others..then again it may be water off a ducks back to Sam and Lachie as I suppose Brent knows them better than us and what they can and cant handle.

This. Edwards was woeful. He got subbed because he was beyond crap. He was Leon Davis Grand Final crap. I loved the way he backed him up and the interviewer was like "he only had one tackle" and Boomer changed his tune to "usually" a reliable player.

He mustve known that Edwards was playing bad, so why on earth would he choose him to back up if he was honestly giving out reports about players.... confused me abit.

He just kept saying Edwards is important to our structures. What structures? Kick long to a midget?

Edwards is one of those players who is too tall to be a crumber and too short to be KPP. A medium forward like a John Anthony who really is only a short term gain unless he can play like a Medhurst role and learn to crumb a bit more, but he is a leading/marking forward, not much of a crumber.

I'd take Wright or Hansen in a heartbeat over Edwards.

Boomer probably would too. I imagine that is his gripe- he sees that Hansen is wasting his talent.

No team wants to have to kick to midget like Thomas all the time, but if he is the only guy in the forward line standing up, what else can you do?

I'd have been very pissed if it was the captain of my team.

Very poor form and he shouldn't be singling blokes out in public. Not his job. By all means single them out at training if they need it, but to the media... poor form.

They have credits in the bank apparently.

What was his excuse the week earlier?

All that could be taken from this is that after an 87 point loss the aftermath is not pretty.
And thats what i want.
The performance was a failure.
Everyones getting criticised from the coach to the captain to the players.
And ive seen too many beltings in the last 2 years with this side and i think Boomer has too.
In 09 and 2010 this would be put down, even if NM didnt like it but to the age of the list.
We finished 9th last year.
An improvement on that is finals.
We want to be a finals bound team and a team thats finals worthy doesn tcop 15 goal thrashings.
I wait in anticipation how theyll fair against Freo in a fortnight.

It hypocritical for anyone to be potting Harvey when he is only towing the party line that has come from the chairman and the senior coach down. They have placed the public expectations on the young playing group and Harvey is only reiterating those expectations on the public record.

Do you know what hypocritical means?
