Didn't like it.

Especially from a captain, makes me wonder why he has to resort to that to inspire his players?

That being said, I didn't like Jason Gram's comments either.

What did Gram say?

Edit: On Topic: Im torn, while alot of our players deserve a rocket up them serving up that tray of crap they called a game of footy, naming and shaming players (especially someone like Sam Wright who has done well in his handful of games) is absolute rubbish and thought Boomer would of been above it.

Noticed someone said earlier Brad Scott deflected blame, no he didnt, in one of his pressers he admitted part of the loss was his fault. He said that he had instructed the players to play a certain way (taking C'wood on at their own game) and it didnt work.

possible that the two have been talked to more than enough times behind closed doors, and it didn't work so boomer thought a public grilling would be the kick in the behind that they need

What did Gram say?
"a couple of the guys are playing their last season" something like that, in reference to aiming to win the premiership this year

Didn't have a problem with him naming and shaming players, but saying they won't be in the team because he'll go to the coach and tell him he refuses to play with them is taking it a step too far.

What:eek:

Surely you are joking about that?

Could have been a result of the young blokes mucking about too much at training etc.

Pranks seem to be pretty common at the moment and there's a couple of major smart arses amongst the ranks. Scott seems pretty adament to play the nice guy at the minute.

The older tribe arent necessarily the most respect demanding crew and perhaps the youngens are getting ahead of themselves and didn't show enough bleed after losing to the spooners.

Fair bit of lack of ticker around the club at the moment in general.

Nothing said of the sort, clearly a Collingwood supporter enjoying their moment in the sun and enjoying the trappings that go with it.

Actually they just played the clip on After The Bounce and that's pretty much exactly what he said word for word. "They won't get a game because we'll go up to the coach and say we don't want to play with them".

Typical boomer really. Always been a bit selfish as a player and by saying this has clearly placed himself above and apart from the younger guys. Sounds like he is blaming them for him not getting another shot at a flag. He has been a very good player for a long time but will never be remembered as a good captain.

I'm afraid he did say it, I heard the whole interview at the time driving through Geelong and remember it distinctly, it was almost the last thing Harvey said in the interview. SOme of the talkback callers commented on it too. I remember it so easily because I nearly choked when I heard it - thought it was very ordinary. Judging from the talkback I wasn't alone.

..yeah, sounded very divisive.. ..a bit of 'senior playing group' vs 'youngsters' tension.. ..personally it's pretty ordinary, senior blokes are meant to lead the way, not whinge that the youngsters are struggling..

You nearly choked when you heard it?

I would've thought you'd have been celebrating a win.

just heard the rest of Harvey's comments. "We won't play with them!" who is "them" Brent? They are your teammates. The ones who look up to you. Instead of saying you won't help them how about bonding and trying to gel as team rather then cause more rifts by the minute. Scott should make a beeline towards Harvey and tell him whose running the club. I think Scott might keep it indoors and have some class about it though...

If Harvey actually said that then Harvey should be playing VFL for the rest of his career.

Did he threaten to kill someone?

Geez ladies, not the end of the world.

He's captain not coach.

If it was me, would have been spraying the coach as well for playing Thomas in a paddock and saying the whole side lacks a heart. Throw in Judd and we are Carlton without the ability to win by decent margins occasionally.

people will forget about what he said.

Will his teammates? It's not us forum dwellers he should be worried about, it's the other 21 blokes he has to run onto the field with, the ones he said he'd go and tell the coach he doesn't want to play with.

Poor form. Should be said behind closed doors. NOT in the media. Adds more pressure to the players.

Yeah I certainly couldn't imagine a senior Geelong player doing this in, say, a premiership season when they had just lost a home game. Oh wait...

The problem with free speech mixed with social media is that it allows people with no idea the chance to speak their minds.

Boomer Harvey simply echoed the comments of Brad Scott, and this same message was also expressed by Brady Rawlings in another radio interview. In other words, it was a co-ordinated strategic campaign.

The fact there's a 5 foot nothing outside player captaining the club goes a way to explain the inherent mediocrity.

I would have a thought a 5 foot nothing player would have to work harder on his game than most.

I imagine Brent feels the same way ;)
