Attitude 10.
He will have to work very hard to earn regular games, then work harder when he plays in the seniors.
But
Better to have this welcome competition

Didn't he kick quite a few bags of goals in the vfl team before breaking into the seniors?

6's and 7's maybe???
He was the leading goal kicker in the TAC Cup in 2006 and was named at FF in the team of the year, so pretty sure you're correct.

Part of the reason we will be so good. Lots of afl standard players will playing the magoos due to highly talented afl standard youngsters earning games in the seniors.

Gee, I really can't wait for this year to commence.

The swagger will return. The opposition will burn. 2016. It's our turn

2010 he was great forward always good for 2 goals
Without wanting to burst your ballon 16 goals in 21 games with 4 bags of 2+ suggests not always

Love the attitude of Caff but unfortunately I think he is right with his own best 22. No spot for him. Bad for him but good for our depth.

The opposition wont even realise the swagger is there until its too late

"what was that?"

"SWAGGER!!!"

One goal a game for a defensive forward is not bad. He was basically a first year player then. Did a lot of tackling bustling and pack busting...the one percenters.

Agree hes got his work cut out for him but injury has stoppped us seeing the best of him. Tons of upside....in the old fashioned footballer sense of the word.

Agreed. It's just sometimes when people talk about goals per game it's easily inflated. Love Caff. Maybe we might go for a bigger defensive forward than Blair and he could get a look in there. Tough for him overall though.

Yeah I realised later the post you were replying to. With Caff it's never about the stats. That said he'll replace Goldsack or Blair Most likely so stats wise we won't lose anything!

I love Blairy too and anyone who has played 20+ games per season over the last 5 seasons shouldn't be easily discounted. Still as I think about it that's the obvious position for Caff if he wants to claim a place form one of 2015s incumbents.

The inclusion of Howe, Aish, Treloar and Greenwood into the 22 complicates it for all of Caff, Blair and Sack. Interesting selection times ahead.

Add Reid to that 22 and Frost/White to the complications

Pretty sure he didn't play all of 2010 in the forward line. From memory he started the year coming off the HBF before being switched forward after an injury to someone.

Nice article in The Age. Caff is prepared to do whatever he can as a leader to support his team, even from outside the best 22. I still think he will surprise people as a useful half forward this year.

Caff has been on our list for 7 seasons and his three highest goal returns (for the season) are

1: 16 goals (2010)

2: 7 goals (2013)

3: 4 goals (2014/2009)

Do you really think caff (coming off a knee reco) is going to magically start becoming a dangerous goal kicking forward for the first time ever? That's extremely optimistic, at best.

I'm happy he is in the leadership group as he seems like a really hard working guy, but his days of being in the best 22 are long gone.
We have guys like De Goey Crisp Fasolo Adams Aish Treloar Howe ect ect who are all superior and younger

he had about 120 scoring shots in his final TAC year from memory (at a Trav like accuracy rate I think).

I have him in the best 22. With Blair out. Macaffer playing as a defensive half forward who takes a good overhead mark and creates space well. Will nullify the likes of a Birchall, Yarran, Brodie Smith, Pierce Hanley, Heath Shaw etc from dominating off half back and setting their teams up.

Would have neither Blair or Maccaffer in, but Caff doesn't have the agility of Blair and Blair has been a more dangerous option up forward through their respective careers so I'd still pick Blair ahead.

Has been through hell but never gives up. I reckon he is poised to deliver in 2016 as a forward. Big body, good mark, smart and can kick. 40 goals plus for The Caff in 2016.

Think he'll surprise a few in 2016 with his performances. Was very solid in the VFL late last season and will be better again with a full preseason under his belt. Will definitely get opportunities at senior level.

I agree. 40 goals is probably unrealistic but I think he can make a contribution, particularly with Howe struggling with his feet.

Honestly... I think he's done. Sad but I can't see him in the best 22 at the mid season break (barring injury).

Honestly I wouldn't be surprised if he played 22 games this year.
