Honestly I wouldn't be surprised if he played 22 games this year.
Not on his output.
I'm just gone on him.
Just a decent enough foot soldier.
But just looks lost and below required level.
Great service, absolutely.
Great attitude, unquestioned.
I'd rather spud it up with Oxley, Broomhead, Maynard, etc than spud it up with him.

But that's just my take, if he proves me wrong and plays great senior footy all power to him.
Just don't see it.

I should declare I've been off him for a while. With others.
But happy to be proven wrong.

Up to him to go and get it again.

I have always been a big supporter of Caff however based on last week and last night, not sure he figures in our best 22 going forward.
Very sad, but still good depth if needed.

I think he can still find a role going forward, but right now he is a few steps behind AFL level (not unexpected given his layoff) and I would expect him to be dropped back to the VFL to work on a few things before getting another crack later in the year.

Sensible.
Let him tear up the VFL and then we can see.
But hadn't he looked slow.

To use a racing analogy, a really good horse has a fine Spring, wins a few races.
Comes back in Autumn and loses two lengths... Happens

I agree, I just won't be surprised if Buckley persists with him.

Yes he does have what looks like brownie points.
But having said that, just looks it's all passed him bye.
If it's the recovery then p,as him in the twos till he burns them.
I like him and admire his service, but it's done

No clear replacement this very moment unfortunately. When Sidebottom/Howe/Varcoe/Swan (hopefully) make their way back and Wills/Goodyear/Philips/Smith push for selection he should find himself pushed out, it's just a matter of time. Pouting and blaming someone not being dropped on 'favourites' is a bit short sighted.

I know jack all about racing, but yeah think I get the analogy. Right now - Caffs just had too long away from this level... I wouldn't be disappointed if Bucke persists with him becuase of the role he can play for the team (similar to why I often also defended Blair and Goldsack) but I do think we would be better off with Caff back into the VFL to put in a lot more work.

Lol the racing parlance, you did well.
Yes he needs the work.
Long Steady work with the occasional short sharp sprint. That's the old timers staying preparation for a horse. Gets the miles into them, but with a touch of freshness.

Neither would I.... He fits the mould of a Buckley favourite and has the return from adversity sympathy in his corner.... BUT...... Did you see anything from him over the last two weeks that would suggest he can play a role?

I see a player who:

- Cannot (or will not) mark with his hands out..... How many times does he try and protect the ball with his body and take a chest mark... This may work in bush league but it won't in today's AFL.
- Will ALWAYS slow up the play.... He often gets away from his opponent on a flank or a wing and completely slows any momentum down by going back on his mark and taking his sweet arse time before making a decision.
- Can be a tagger.... But does 2016 have room for a tagger? Especially with Greenwood/Crisp/Adams in the same midfield rotation.
- Isn't tall enough or fast enough to do any damage whatsoever in the forward line.
- Isn't tall enough or fast enough to protect a man in the back line.
- Isn't tall enough to ruck.

I feel horrible saying this because he has been (and still is) a great club man who has been horribly unlucky with injury much like Sean Rusling was. I just cannot see where he fits in this team going forward, let alone now.

(HAPPY TO BE PROVEN WRONG AND WILL APOLOGISE IF THAT EVER HAPPENS)

Has been through hell but never gives up. I reckon he is poised to deliver in 2016 as a forward. Big body, good mark, smart and can kick. 40 goals plus for The Caff in 2016.

Sorry Jmac but one of your worst calls.

Shouldn't even be on our list in 2016, another bad decision by the list management (Tim Golds wtf? Josh Thomas? Keeffe?)

Completely done and struggling at VFL level now. Just playing out time until he is delisted

Agree Caff is done. He was shocking today as for Tim Golds he's got to be the worst footballer I've ever seen. What were we thinking. Josh Thomas will be exactly like Caff after two years out of the game. Finished.

Has been playing decent footy in the VFL. Big step up to AFL but hopefully he comes through and plays a role for us. If he can't get a game with all the injuries we have now that's all she wrote for a good clubman. Hope Bucks picks him but he may continue with the youth policy and go with Goodyear or Aish instead. Maybe Wills. Good luck Caff!
