West Coast will get an early second-round pick for him. One of those players that everyone thinks they'd be able to turn into a superstar if he was at their club.

No one will ever do anything of note with him though... Andrew McDougall style.

No Fcuking way!!! Being a WA Blue I unfortunately watch a bit of the whingers (WCE) on tele and let me tell you this guy (loose term) is an absolute $oft C@ck!!!

In my opinion he cost the Whingers a premiership...recall he was on the fwd 50 and they whingers had to win the ball and score to win...he showed no heart...he and Dai$y Thomas are perfect for each other...'

F that...would rather persist with Jake "the Snake" Edwards

whoever started this thread, i like the fact you are looking, thinking about who else to bring to carlton. let me leave with this piece of advice.

LOOK AGAIN. START AGAIN. and no no no no, to brent staker.

reasons.

1. soft
2. no contested marking ability.
3. i don't need a third.

A definite no to Staker, unless he came really cheap (ie. 3rd rounder).

Yeah, he's big. But he's yet another example of a guy that "looks like Tarzan, plays like Jane".

I'd much rather persist with Harts, Edwards and Aussie.

Hes not that bad. Hes 195cm and one of the fastest players in the league. Its not Brents fault Woosha has played him in every single position in football (im dead serious, hes played EVERY single position you can name in his career, hes even rucked). He played CHB for a month last year and creamed everyone. Then he got injured and never returned in defence for some reason. I wouldnt trade him for anything less then a 2nd rounder because he might be a late bloomer. If we can teach him some footy smarts with that athleticism itd be a good player we have on our hands.

Im not giving up yet :D

Staker is a great contested mark. Hes just never been given the chance to show it at AFL level because hes told to lead up and run.

i agree he wopuld be given more credit if hally never wacked him he could be a very handy player for us at the Blues as a hit up forward or key back which is one of our suspect areas at times only my opinon though

GREAT? contested mark? GREAT? that's very interesting. do you honestly believe great is the right word to use?

brown, bradshaw, fevola, hall, o'keefe? they are great contested marks. brent staker, great at contested marks?

embers, i think you are using the word "great" a little (or a lot) loosely.

my thoughts is not against brent staker as a person,

just as a carlton second tall forward option. no thanks.

Fish is our archetype 'third tall', so that would make Staker our second 'third tall'?

Would that be the equivalent of a 'sixth tall'?
